Bought new svx woot!

Sup everyone, well I just bough my first svx

Subaru 1992 SVX AWD
142K

Green exterior/Grey interior

Now the drivers window will not come down, bad brakes, and a dead battery.
Bought the car as is but fairly cheap.

Alrite I am going to get new brakes rear-front, get new battery. Dont know what to do with the window, may need a new motor?

Now since this is a high mile car i guess, what tune-ups should i give this car? I really want to extend the life of this car as much as possible.

good forums by the way :)

Welcome to the site. I would doubt that it need a new engine. They are very good and last 200,000 + miles when taken care of. Do a few searches and you should find lots. The other good place to look is in the How-To Documents. Good luck. :)

Welcome to the forum Shad!

I agree that a tune-up is called for - spark plugs, oil change, atf drain and refill (don't power flush), and a radiator flush. Definitely replace the battery and all four brake rotors & pads.

The window is a bit trickier, but the How-to docs should have an article on removing the door. Once you take it apart, if the glass is still on the 'arm' that moves it up and down and everything seems to be in order, then it's most likely a blown power window motor. They aren't too hard to change and are sold on Ebay every so often by people parting out SVXs.

Good luck with the repairs. :)
