Anyone have any tips as to cleaning a camera bag? It smells like wet dog in there.

Re: Dipping my toes into photography

wow, a $1000 camera for photography class, is that like required equipment for the class?
I remember I flipped out having to spend $140 on a T-89 calc for a math class...

Is that a Saitek Eclipse II keyboard?
I only ask because I got 2 of them and I think they are fantastic keyboards.

a DSLR is the required equipment...when college is paying for it, why not get something better than the minimum?

Yes indeed! I LOVE it. I spilled coke on it the other day and was AMAZED to see it had a plastic shield covering the electronics. Easy as pie to clean...aside from having to pop out every single key.

I got a LOT of great Subaru Content right now. (and more when I get back from our weekend meet)

Febreze works wonders... followed by keeping silica gel packets in it should keep the out of ordinary moisture out. Have fun with class. It's an addicting bug to get into. :)

You can easily flip photo equipment and lenses keep value generally. I've flipped 1-3 year old lenses with only taking a 100 dollar or so hit on them, so depending on what the market is on them the cost of ownership is pretty low.

I just washed it a second time, so if the smell doesnt come out, I'm just grabbing a new bag. Might make my own stealth bag.

Lesson #1... Never ever ever ever leave the camera body open like that. :D

So what will the college be teaching you? I've always been curious about what would go into a formal course (I've worked as a photographer on and off for many years now, but am completely self taught).

I thought I mentioned it, but it was ONLY open for cleaning/inspection.

Just basic stuff, how to use, history, composition, etc.
