Here comes new tranny!!!
Everybody!!
Tada!? I have to get sometranny work done soon. I am litterally driving my auto manually because if I let it shift on it's own it'll slip, flare, hang (all the bad stuff). Therefore, aside from the lack of ability to get it to Washington for a 5 speed (What I really wanna do!!) What things should I consider while this puppy is cracked open (If I go for rebuild). I am looking for both reliablility and performance items. Skip the tranny cooler, already arranging for that. Randy (Thinkin' this should prove interesting) ii |
Bite the bullet and ship it to Washinton to get the five speed, its AWESOME to drive. Worth the $$$ if you have it. When I spoke to Brian at the meet he said downtime would only be a week or so, so it might even be faster. I believe the figure quoted was ROUGHLY 4 grand.

if it is 4K without tax, it's worth it if you want the 5 spd. With tax and services and all that, it comes out around 3.5k from dealer and I will not trust anyone else to rebuilt it (perhaps level 10 guys).
Good luck with your trans. Lwin see -- I told you so in my signature. |
Randy,
I hope and pray you are taking the car to Mastro for a new tranny and not to some butcher to hack it up and leave you without a car for weeks. My transmission job at Mastro was a two day process and they did it perfectly. Have them install a cooler for extra protection, they'll do it. Good luck! Jeff |
in order to have the 5-speed installed.
wouldnt you have to send the whole car? i mean new pedals and a new gear shift have to be installed not to mention a new tranny amongst other things. can you afford to ship your whole car and be without it for two+ weeks?
