Instrument cluster needle (fuel gauge)

So I did a search and I did not find an answer to my question prior to asking so here goes...

I got a set of the white instrument cluster gauges and I put them in the other day and wired them up. Everything works fine on the gauges but when I pulled the needles off in order to put the white gauges on I made note of where they were and put them back in the same position, however when I actually started the car to test the gauges the needles were all in the wrong position, example it showed I was going 40 miles an hour in park. So with the vehicle running I pulled the needles back off and position them correctly, temperature needle rpm needle miles per hour needle and fuel gauge needle. All of the needles are now reading correct except the fuel gauge is very erratic. I put it on full and it will go to empty or three quarters of a tank or sometime is way past full I can't get it to read correctly. Any ideas?

No solution for you but you really shouldn't have needed to remove the needles to install the white gauge faces. You sort of snake the needle thru the hole in the gauge face and carefully pull it past the biggest diameter of the needle assembly. (Just a warning for any future white gauge face installers.)

Could your problem be a coincidence with the standard sender unit contact problem? Maybe a used gauge assembly via another SVXer or ebay could be used to fully replace the fuel gauge?

Not sure how long you've had the car, but the fuel gauge takes a short while to register correctly after turning on the car, especially in cold weather. Mine sometimes takes a couple of kilometres.

I haven't had the car that long but I have noticed it takes a while to register. I would say that's the issue but in my case it's acting real funny not just slow...
