Helix Throttle Body Spacer
Ive been selling and using the HELIX brand throttle body
spacers now for about 7 yrs and have never had 1 come back with a customer not happy with using it, Always better MPG and small hp gain, 4-7 hp I put one on my Vehicross last yr and love it. So now Im getting them made for the SVXs. |
Re: Helix Throttle Body Spacer
Outlaw engineering seems to be defunct. Can this company make intake manifold spacers as well? Several people on the Facebook groups have been asking about them. They seem to be popular for eg33 modders, so there is a market for them.

1 Attachment(s)
yeah, no problem...
do someone have a pair to loan us so we can possibly use to spec them out ? If not, I can probably send them a pair of gaskets to mock up some prototypes. How thick ? I have 2 sources that can do this for us One will probably use billet aluminum, but the other will actually use Phenolic material to limit heat transfer as much as possible, this material is a smarter way to go. Not sure what your originals where made out of. The spacer should look something like this for the throttle body and be about 1" thick when done... |
Re: Helix Throttle Body Spacer
For the intake manifold, just use 1 gasket as a template, they are symmetrical. The old ones are phenolic, aluminum would defeat the purpose of the part. Most phenolic spacers I deal with are around 8mm thick.

Re: Helix Throttle Body Spacer
Just a caution to throw in here. There is no way you'll be able to use a TB spacer as thick as the one in the photo unless you want to take a chunk out of the firewall for clearance.;)

Re: Helix Throttle Body Spacer
Here is a picture of the Outlaw spacers... Times like these make me wish I had a 3D printer. I could make a negative and cast these bad boys.

Re: Helix Throttle Body Spacer
I have a set of the Outlaw spacers on my engine, and I still have a problem getting the snorkel on and off with the 1/4" reduced clearance.

Re: Helix Throttle Body Spacer
I think theres enough room
Once the prototype is done Im going to test fit it on one of our cars and take it from there..Nothing would ever get done if we had the cant do attitude all the time :) We like a good challenge anyways |
Re: Helix Throttle Body Spacer
note that I didn't say you couldn't do it, only that you're going to have to take a chunk out of the firewall to make it fit. ;)
the alternatives are fabricating a new snorkus that is shallower or flipping the intake so the TB is up by the alternator... good luck :):) Bill |
Re: Helix Throttle Body Spacer
what is the thickness exactly in metric or std
we need the spacers made for the manifolds ? and we only need one pattern right ? because they are a mirror image of each other ? or am I wrong.. |
Re: Helix Throttle Body Spacer
You are correct, they are symmetrical side to side. The important one is between the heads and the intake manifold. Around an 8mm phenolic spacer should sit about right. The one between the upper and lower manifold doesn't matter if you keep the heat separated from the heads to the lower manifold. The intake manifold gasket from Subaru is almost dead on, I've never felt the need to port match a Subaru intake because of how close everything lines up.

Re: Helix Throttle Body Spacer
so then we just want the 2 pcs from man to man, correct, 8mm is ok
thx, I have a guy who can make me the 2 pcs manifold to manifold units, but we have to buy a min of 70 the way it looks, which would do 35 cars. No pricing yet. Are people sourcing out there own gaskets from their local dealer and bolts from the hardware store ? |
