Cigarette lighter removal

Hi,
My lighter is not working, fuse is OK and there is power at the fuse. Can anyone tell me how to remove the lighter body?

First, read my posts in this thread:

If you have small hands, you can reach the screw-on nut that holds the lighter assembly against the back of the trim piece. You have to raise the audio door and remove the ash tray. You can find the nut and power wires by feel.

Once the nut is unscrewed, let it slide back down the power wire so it doesn't get lost. carefully pull the assembly out through the front.

See if the fusible link has melted on the back of the lighter.

Replace the assembly, plug in the power wire and slide the nut back into position and tighten.

You cannot remove the lighter trim piece without breaking it; it is screwed in from the rear.

Hi,
Thanks for the help, but that is much too small a place for my hands, so I have abandoned the attempt. I will find out what my friendly Subaru dealer will charge instead.

Or hire the skinny 10-year-old in your neighborhood...

Seriously, if you had a pair of 90º long needle-nose pliers, you could grab the end of the nut and break it loose. It is just a thin piece of stamped steel with a lip than you can grasp.
