Windows dont work

None of my windows are working, i tired all switches, and the light on the drivers door switch (above 'auto') is not illuminated. Wondering what could have gone wrong, checked all my fuses and they seem to be fine.
Im going to guess im gunna have to tear the door apart and check the connections..

I wanted to ask for any other ideas before i do this.

I don't remember where the fuse is for the windows, but it sounds like it is the power. Remember that there are two fuse boxes. :)

checked them both. all the fuses looked fine. anyone know where the fuse is for the windows?

Check the connection to the switchbox in the driver's door. If that box is unplugged then none of the windows will work.

I'm having this problem too, checked both fuses and the connection to switch, they're fine. Could it have anything to do with the relay? ( #9 http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...category=816-A)

Or is it most likely the main switch?

Also my Power moonroof isn't working.

when you try to use the drivers window or the sunroof do you hear a buzzing sound? does your drivers seat still work? I have this same problem and I think its the relay.

EDIT(Seat doesn't work), no buzzing from windows or roof

The relay and circuit breaker provide power to the windows and the moonroof. Mine went out. You can check them with a voltmeter if you pull the driver's seat.

The relay and the circuit breaker are screwed to the bottom of the seat? or am I looking at the wrong thing?

billb 01-18-2006 04:40 PM

No they are not screwed to the bottom of the seat. Funny, I went through the same thing. They are actually underneath the carpet. You have to take out the 4 bolts that hold the seat in. Then, tilt the entire seat back. There is a bracket that is bolted to the floor of the car just under the left front corner of the seat (driver's left foot). Take out the bolt and pull the bracket up from under the carpet. The relay and circuit breaker are attached to the bracket.

Thanks bill, only thing i had to go from is subaruparts.com's black and white diagram.

On a side note there's a little white slideing thing on the bottom of the seat toward the outside of the car and towards the back, I've never seen it before it looks like some kind of switch... anyone know what I'm talking about?

billb 01-20-2006 11:05 AM

I'm not sure what that other stuff is. It might be some wiring and connectors for a power seat. I think they put that stuff in even if you don't have power seats (or seat heaters?).

I remember looking at that stuff when I was hunting for the relay and circuit breaker. Those diagrams from subaruparts don't help in finding an exact part location sometimes.
