Wanted to buy SVX

Hi everyone.

I have just visited the bank and am hoping to find a post 94 SVX.

Please contact me if you want to sell or know of any GOOD ones available.

Cheers,

Mike Brady

Hello, and welcome to the SVX World Network!

:)

At present, I am not aware of any post 94 SVXs for sale, but I am curious - why a post 94 SVX?

If it is because of the updated automatic transmissions that were fitted to the newer models, be aware that most 1992 and 1993 models would have had their original transmission fail by now. If a genuine Subaru remanufactured unit was fitted, then it is a reasonable assumption that it would have incorporated all of the improvements that Subaru made to the 4EAT during its life.

Hello and thank you.

Hi Jason,

Good to be here! In answer to your question:

Yes, I was concerned about older 4AET boxes, but I also simply want a newer car, with dual airbags and low kilometers!

I am looking for a daily driver in good condition, I assume that post 94 models would suit my needs better.

I am looking at the Green 96 SVX-96 that is for sale in QLD, but the dealer is asking WAY too much!!

Thanks

Bray there is a perfect 1992 red with black roof here were I live the guy wants 14k but my guess is that he will take 10k. It has been well treated all its life and has 170k on it. As for the transmissions if they were treated well you should get a lot more life from it. If it fails the best thing is to get the parts from Mike in the USA his trans will never fail.

welcome Mike - let us know how your quest goes. I gave myself 12mths to find a 'good' SVX and like you was after a post 93 for the airbags & stuff - snapped up a 96 off one of the guys selling here in brilliant condition after looking just 1 week!
Someone else here came across a low km, 93 mod last year I think - just 55,000 km - so they do come up you just have to be on the lookout!

good luck

Thanks to everyone out there responding!! I really appreciate it! I have alerts set up on them, but please keep your ears to the ground for any SVX entering the market.

Watch this space!:D

Hi Mike,

I am thinking of selling my 94 SVX here in England. I am a frequent visitor to Sydney as my wife is from there and I was thinking about the possibility of shipping my car to Australia at some point either to use on my trips there or to possibly sell there as they seem to fetch a bit more money which I presume is down to the cost of fuel here in rip off Britain. I'm not sure whether the figures stack up in terms of shipping etc and I think I have to register it for a while before I culd sell it but this isn't a problem as my brother in law can do this all for me over there.

Its in excellent condition having covered only 67,000 in old money and if you want to have a look at some pictures I can send them over to you. Really not sure about this but you never know it could work depending on your timescale.

I had Christmas in Sydney this year and flew back a few days ago right back into the English winter which as you can only imagine is a bit of a shock to the system.

Cheers

Tim

Red 1994 in Hunter Valley NSW

Hi all,

I am going to look at a red 94 in Newcastle on Wednesday. It is in a yard, had one owner and has approx 200,000km on it.

It is the only one around the Hunter I know so am going for a test drive in any event!

I am finding a few around for sale, most are around the 200,000 mark it seems.

Still dreaming for the perfect low klm 1995-96 model!!! (I long for "SVX-95"!)

Don't forget to inspect the tranny if there's that many Km on the car.

Listen for the wheel bearings in the back. You'll know they're bad if you hear a roar-type noise from the back.

Good luck! And hopefully you found a good SVX:)

Hi Mike,

Yes its the black one, I have attached a couple more pictures. My brother-in law lives on the Central Coast so not too far from you I think.

Hi Tim,

Let me know how you go on costs for import/export. If it works out on par with a local SVX or close, I would love it! It looks amazing in black!

Hi Mike,

Will do, I have e-mailed my brother in law as he know whats involved as he bought a Lotus from Engand and shipped it out to Australia last year. I'll let you know.

As a rough guideline, I bought the car for approx $8,000 (Aussie) so am hoping to get somewhere about this for her but would be happy to negotiate depending on shipping costs etc. She's done 67,000 miles and has been well looked after. I am the third owner although officially the 4th as the person who had her before me transferred the car from his company into his own name.

Cheers

Tim

Hey guys,

Still looking for a good one. The one in Newcastle was a bit rough. Also, it's plates said: Built April 93, Compliance late 1994. Weird....

The body was clean but the interior was worn and rattled badly. Would need a re-trim and some other work....

Mike
