parking brake wire bypass?

i had jsut gotten a great new in dash unit with a dvd monitor (single din AND my door still closes.... infact i can tap the door and the little nub on the angled corner actually jsut taps the mute on it so withthe door shut i can power and mute the unit without even opening the stereo door

anyways, back to the matter....

i cant use the dvd aspect of it until i either

a: hook the parking brake wire from the unit to the car...

b: find a way to trick it into thinking its hooked to the parking brake

now i would prefer option b.... but i would settle for a.... anyone else done this? right now its all hooked up and fully functional except that wire... and i would love to have that taken care of so i can use the dvd abilities as well.

i suppose i could rout a wire under the shift setup and to the parking brake under the console but i would need to know what wire to splice into....

...i wonder how those guys at best buy and circuit city do the display models... they operate fine and there are no parking brakes to be found.....

First, figure out what that wire does. If it's just looking for you to complete a circuit to ensure that hte parking brake is on, ground it. If it's looking for voltage, give it voltage. They're easy to bypass once you figure out what they're looking for to verify that the car is not moving.

yeah it was jsut needing a ground.... i jsut didnt want to send the wrong voltage or something if it needed it.

when i asked a guy at best buy he avoided me like the plague....

i then asked a guy at circuit city casually jsut saying "how are you able to demo them without a parking brake in there.. .and he simply said to ground the wire

... so i did

..stereo kicks all sorts of ass now
