My poor baby might be totaled :(

Pictures tomorrow... I'm so upset... and it wasn't even me driving. I was in the passenger seat, neither of us were hurt at all... but I learned never to let people drive my car again.

Took a turn too fast, headed straight for the curb, grabbed the wheel to turn it from the passenger seat, wasn't enough to correct it.

Slammed into the curb at like 35-40 and jumped it... slammed into the telephone pole. No airbags deployed. I got into the drivers seat and pulled it out. I'm leaking coolant. Bolts are broken off the bottom. Its too dark to see. Had it towed to the collision center and going back at 8 to check it out.

The tow truck driver pulled it off the truck and the wheels wobbled. The front bumper isnt too bad. I think the undercarriage is totally screwed and my suspension is probably shot again.

Good thing I didn't get the Koni/GC's yet

I watched in HORROR as a life-long friend backed my 61 Ford convertable through the grill of a Dart Swinger! Life can suk!

It's going to need a new radiator most likely (although I replaced it 2 years ago), new fender walls, front bumper.

The worst of the damage is underneath the car. I have to check tomorrow to see if the oil pan and everything is damaged.

I think my brand new exhaust got crushed too. Probably tore off my two freshly installed O2 sensors as well.

Honestly I'm afraid to look underneath the car tomorrow.

Man, that is sad to hear. I am sorry, but glad to hear you are ok. :o

Tim 05-24-2007 11:28 PM

I called Tom before. I'm most mad about the fact that I just filled up 5 minutes before with 50 bucks of premium and I had my oil changed today.

At least my 97 grille and Alcyone badge are unscathed.

It's Just Eric 05-24-2007 11:35 PM

Hey dude,
that SUCKS!!
the insurance will 99% total it, especially if the wheel apron is ****ed up. I have a front clip if you need parts

Tim 05-24-2007 11:37 PM

I can't sleep thinking about this.

It was running in great shape minus the 1 blown strut, although now I bet all of them are destroyed.

The cost to probably repair the whole suspension, body and mechanical work will result in it getting totaled.

I have so much invested in this car thats relatively new:
raceconcepts rotors, lines, 4 remanuf. calipers, struts and mychailo springs, both knock and o2 sensors, new tires, 4.44 tranny, radiator, 97 grill, alcyone badge, flexplate, whole engine reseal, crankshaft pulley

It makes sense to fix it but it probably will never drive the same again.

Budfreak 05-24-2007 11:38 PM

Sorry to hear it man.:( Let me know if I can do anything to help and let us know the extent of it all.

Tim 05-24-2007 11:46 PM

Also remembered I had Tom install 4 fresh new cv axles as well... I would imagine those are cracked or damaged. I'm surprised this many people are up at this time.

Sorry I keep rambling but I'm so depressed right now it's not even funny.

Just let it go for now man. Festering over it will solve nothing and will just rack your nerves and emotions. I know it's easier said then done, But that's just life and it's hard sometimes. At least it's just a car and not a human life as anybodies child or friend could have been standing there at that moment. If you do decide to part it though, let me know and I'll try to take some of that off your hands for my SVX(brakes, springs, grill, ETC.). Good luck with it all.

After working at a bodyshop, i can say ANYTHING is fixable. Hell, a good bodyshop will make it better than new. We had this one GTO come in. Neded a new fraim rail, engine cradle, wheel apron, door, fender, hood, strut, A-arms, rad support, radiator, condensor, headlight, ect. We had to pull the engine out to do the required work....it was in the shop forever, but when it was done, the only thing giving the repair away was the fact the engine bay paint was so much nicer on the side we worked on. we actually painted and cleared the whole rail, apron, ect, where from the factory your lucky to get overspray on it

But yeah..your insurance probly wont cover it all. This will end up costing you some out of pocket...hopefully it isnt too much to discourage you from keeping it alive

Hiya,

I know how you feel about friends damaging your toys, never again!

If you find its an insurance loss do you have the option in the US to negotiate a payout slightly less than the write off offer and keep the car without it showing on a register as a loss? You could probably repair it with used parts & your own work for less money.
The other option is take a payout and keep the car & find another SVX and rebuild it with your good parts, it sounds like you have a good base car and probably worth saving as much as you can.

The car's not so bad. I'm shocked that everything underneath is relatively intact. They're still going to total it probably but t least you can see from the pictures that it is going to be repairable I think.
