new car decision - i'm going crazy
i've been rolling around scenarios in my brain several times a day for the last three months. insanity is starting to take over.
- buy a Legacy GT: i HATE the fact that the factory stereo is not replaceable. did i mention that i HATE the fact that the factory stereo is not replaceable? decent performance, but not quite what i really want -buy a Forester XT: practical space, decent performance, but i'm not really a fan of SUV-type vehicles -buy a Hyundai Santa Fe/Tucson, Toyota RAV4, Honda CRV or other reasonably-priced little SUV for wife, take her WRX, and do some mods to it: i'll have to do a ton of work to it to get what i want (brakes, power, handling, audio), and i'm not really feeling very motivated to do much of anything lately (lazy) -buy an STi: pretty much everything i want......but do i want to drive a 6-speed in suburban traffic, with all the hills around here? wife also not happy (read: GRRRRRR!!!!) about me getting a manual. touch of arthritis in right shoulder, too, means fun shifting. what do i do? i may draw answers from a hat soon to save teh headaches. |
seeing how the Legacy GTs performance does not impress you..and you dont want to bother with the WRX mods..and not warming up to the SUV thing..the answer is clear..time to work out that right shoulder..take one for the team...STi...STi...you wont be happy with anything less..admit it :D

i went to the dealer today, and checked the others out, but the STi.......want to touch the hiney. why can't they make that thing with an SMG gearbox? that would be my perfect car. |
A Legacy 2.5GT would be sweet and so would an '04 STI. However, if it were my money, I'd invest in the ultimate sleeper - an '04-'05 Forester XT!

Add some tint, 17x8" Rota Torques with 245/45 rubber and the look of the XT is even more sinsister!

ok, i'll do the Chike method of posting pics of the car he's currently dreaming about :D
if i DO get it, it will be a Brilliant Silver 2005 http://www.dragtimes.com/images/1104...za-WRX-STi.jpg i don't know why, but i really love the 2005 STi interior (the 2004 steering wheel was just butt-ugly). the electroluminescant Defi gauges are just too cool. :) http://www.off-road.pl/news/wrx2005_2.jpg http://articles.motortoday.com/testd...I03_gauges.jpg i'm going to beat up my buddy's BMW practicing - i haven't driven a stick in probably ten years. he owes me a few favors anyway. :D |

If you get the STI, give me a few months and my XT will be fastAr!!! A simple switch to the STI VF39 turbo, STI intercooler, and the Cobb AP Stage 2...and some serious turbo-charged 4.44 geared smack will be dished out! j/k :p -Chike |

don't forget to upgrade your brakes and suspension, too. ;) |

The answer is staring you right in the face.......buy an SRT-4, because its fast4r. :D

because the SRT-4's acceleration is so fast it bends the space-time continuum, i could essentially go time in time, play the winning Powerball numbers, and buy any car i want! |

You need to learn from Huck and others. If you don't like the gearbox, change it. Buy the STi and install a 4EAT. :D
