Been modding.... my SVX is jealous!
 

I am kinda getting bored with the car scene so I started tinkering on my home computer. Here is what followed:

Oh i dunno... about $2k into it so far. The case was originally $999.99 when it was released a yr ago. It just under $300 now.

I dont have anything on the books for the SVX. I need to order a new antenna and I'd like to upgrade the wheel/tires. But I dunno.. like I said, I have lost interest. I may just go buy a new STi or 135i. :lol:

But then... there is always something to do to the house. If my son decides to move in, I'll have to add a 4th bedroom. He is kind of wishy-washy right now but what do you expect from a 14yr old?

Nice system. Nice to see a fellow AMD/Asus fan.
Why so little OC? I mean you got liquid cooling, but your only bumped up 300mhz?

Yeah them WD black 1TB are not fast drive. I don't know why they released it in black label.
I went with the WD Black 640 AALS. Its a much faster drive. Then I Raided 2 of them.

You prefer the Nvidia gfx I see. I stick with the Ati on my AMD systems.

I have a new display now. A 32" Dynex LCD TV I got for $280 on sale.

Here is the test I ran on a single 640 AALS for comparison.

I built this one last year. It still holding its own.

I can get the chip stable up to 3.4Ghz, but I have to go to 5-5-5-18 on my ram timing. I choose the tighter timing over the higher core speed.

I've read your threads, and I must say, I'm so glad you have joined in :D

That said, a rear turbo would be too boring for a sophisticated car-crafter like yourself. Plus, the fact that your wife would barely know it was installed, "look honey, nothing under the hood, it must be the octane booster" just wouldn't be worth the trouble. Imagine, not getting into trouble for 'ruining' another Subaru, where's the fun in that?

Forget I mentioned it, can't be done :p

I didnt bump it much because there really is no need for it. Its a very competent machine as is. If I were to OC it further it would be more of a test than long term commitment. I just cant justify the added PWR use and heat.

:lol: I cant tell you how many times my wife has said something along those lines. "Honey did you do something to the WRX/Evo/Skyline etc because it seems so much faster now"! Ummm, no... its just.... ah... you haven't driven it in a while so it seems much faster. "Oh, I guess you are right".

A remote mount turbo... interesting idea. I always liked the idea of STS system. But thats just the street racer in me talking. The older, more mature, sensible side is telling me to buy a nice AUTOMATIC G8GT. God help me, I am getting old! :eek:

Nice box. I've been out of the game too long. I haven't done anything with my computer in like 3 years. They have carbon fiber cases now?? Just wow. Bet it's ridiculously fast. Still sitting on a 2.9 ghz (2.6 stock) single core FX-55.

So what do you do with all that power? Nowadays I only play Team Fortress 2 once in a while.

My instructor asked me the same question. I replied, surf the net. He said so you bought a Ferrari to run to the grocery store for milk? LOL

I play some games like Borderlands and Batman AA. Mostly I built it because I wanted it, not needed it. :cool:

Uhh, no offense, but why did you spend 1000 on a case?

High end cases are like $300. Your not gaining anything with CF.

You must have read that line a little too quickly. He said the case was selling for $999 last year, but is now selling for under $300.

Its under $300 now. But even if it was $3,000.... what would I be gaining? Something I wanted.;)
