Idle problem, help pls!

Hi,
My SVX has a problem when idling... it hapens when stopping at the street lights, it goes up and don oscillating between 200 and 800 rpms..soemtimes even dies...and if i'll rave it to about 1000 1100 rpms it doesn't turns smooth, it has some hesitations but everything goes ok when the engine goes up over 1500 rpms, no hesitations or whatever when stepping hard on the gas pedal.
beside spark plugs that i intend to check up anything else ? any other suggestions?
also when shifting from first to second- i have a MT - and not accelerating to hard , more like kipping the engine to about 1500-1700 rpms sometimes the car will shake like the engine is chocking - i have to use the clutch or to step hard on the gas to get rid of this unpleasant sensation.
any advices will be more then welcomed.
thank you!

I used to have this problem. It was eventually resolved through hose tightening and sensor/valve cleaning. Hard to say what the exact cause was.

check engine light goes on and of but last time i was checking was the left oxigen sensor..it was on since i bought the car and it was running ok...i had the car parked over the summer- for about 2 months i was riding my bike- and when i put it back on the road i've noticed this malfunctioning...

If it seemed to happen by itself while it was parked, id get a telescoping mechanics mirror and go over your engine bay checking for chewed hoses or wiring. Rodents like to nest in engine bays and chew things, and id pay special attention to vacuum hoses. Its happened to me a couple times.

i forgot to say that the car has cold intake...so all the original air tubing was redone..don't know if this make any difference..?

It shouldnt, since it ran ok before. Id pop off the intake too and check the inside..... also the butterfly valves on the throttle body. Just the fact that it happened while sitting for 2 months points me to rodents nesting or chewing on your vac hoses. The wandering idle is usually indicative of a vacuum leak so check em all carefully, you probably want a small mirror and a flashlight to see everywhere possible.

well...it looks like the problem went of the same way it came up...i had to wait yesterday on traffic for more then 5 minutes on idle and the engine started up to run smooth again...i have pulled out a diagram of the vacuum system and..oh boy..i do know they ran a lot of tubes and hoses for it and also the EGR valve is part of it... i'm also suspecting a fuel filter problem for the bad idling...since the price of gas has dropped so much i'm running now only on premium..so that may have washed up a little bit the whole ignition system too…now I have another problem with the cooling fans which are running all the time, I was looking on to the electrical schematics but I couldn't figure out who sent the turn on/off command to them.. there are a lot of relays interconnected with the AC system too and there is a temperature sensor on the engine ..which I supposed should be the one that sends the on/off command…unfortunately the documentation I have doesn't says to much about the cooling system…as a conclusion ..don't let your car to seat off the road for too much time ..looks like it will get mad and take revenge on you when put it back on the road…
