What's your plans for the Anniversary Weekend?

I know we already have the sign up list thread, and quite a bit of discussion has already taken place there. But here's a place to chat it up, get excited, and talk about your plans for the weekend. What events are excited for? Is anyone spending the night anywhere (I would assume at least a couple based on the sign up patterns)? Does anyone need help with that? Anyone planning any convoys for different locations?

Just over a week away now!

I could use a recommendation for a swanky hotel for the night. Thats the weekend of my birthday, so we're gonna do this thing with class.

Anything regarding the SVX is always done with class!

Hmmmmm If you take "swanky" literally, I like the Westin in downtown Seattle, stayed there a few times for romantic weekends even though it's only 40 minutes from my house. All about location, location, location as far as the Seattle ambiance and a very nice luxury hotel. $200+ a night and probably about 40 minutes from the banquet location, about 90 minutes from Earl's.

If you want to downgrade a bit but be close to the banquet, there are a couple of pretty nice hotels right in Lynnwood within a mile of the Rock. Nothing like the Westin, and Lynnwood isn't exactly "scenic", but it's a good central location both for the weekend events and for other touristy stuff and tons of shopping.

There may be some members who can offer a free room at their house for the weekend as well, but I'm not sure if that goes along with your idea of swanky hotel and your birthday plans. ;)

I am getting excited thats for sure. Time to get my car totally back together! (Patrick is bringing me some parts to make it perfect :))

Let me see if I can remember everything, Patrick, if there is anything on the list that you dont have, maybe someone else who is comming does have it, and we could make a deal for me to get it? :)

So as far as I know... Some of this I do need to know ahead of time, in order to take the parts out...

The passenger seat (Im hoping)
The glovebox
The plastic part on the drivers seat with the switches
The climate control unit (stupid guy at car toys broke it)
The radiator fan/wiring harness
The rear ashtray
The tail light bar (the part that says Subaru SVX in it)
The hazard switch cover (the tabs are broken on this one)

Thats everything important, I will add a couple more things, but this is some extra stuff, and I realize that it might cost a little money to get these, but I figured I would ask, as I am trying to get the car back to showroom (at least as close as possible)

The lighter assembly (if its possible, this one is quite dinged up)
The top center vent (some tabs are broken and it doesnt sit right, at least the woodgrain trim piece, if possible)
The front ashtray (I know it was just replaced, but on the woodgrain theres like bumbs everywhere, and its really scratched)
And last but not least, grey leather rear headrests. (I know someone is supposed to get some to me somehow, but its bugging me :p)

I know this seems like a lot of parts, but at the most it would only take like an hour to get it all in, its all small stuff.

And Patrick, I thank you in advance again for everything. I really do appreciate it, it means a lot.

hotel for weekend

Check out The Hilton Garden Inn in Mukelteo. Centrally located for week end activities. Rooms with king bed start at $99 and go up. Suite with jacousie is pretty reasonable.

+2 on Mukilteo. Right on the water, great view of Puget Sound ;)

There's also a nice place up by Earl, a good restaurant that has a suite above it on Chuckanut drive, was less than 200/night a couple of years ago. Got the entire (I think) top floor, deck with a great view of the stars, 2bedrooms, livingroom, kitchen, hottub, champagne in the fridge. Nearby attractions include Earl's SVXmuseum, driving the chuckanut and the tulip festival.

This might be what Aly is talking about:

http://www.chuckanutmanor.com/

A search shows there a couple restaurants/B&B's along Chuckanut Drive (great scenic stretch of road). But I think this might be the one she is talking about, it's a famouse nice restaurant up there and it looks like they have a suite there, but no details on their web site.

I'll be getting my car ready for Reading 9!!!!!!

ensteele 04-05-2008 11:09 AM

Yes, that is the restaurant that she is talking about. Here is the link to the Bed and Breakfast: http://www.chuckanutmanor.com/upstairs.html

I would check fairly quickly about reservations, we are pretty close to that date now. Good luck. :)
