question...

if a shop is doing service on the front wheels of your car and doesn't disengage the awd, can any damage result from this? i know in the owner's manual, it says to disengage, but is there a reason behind this besides 'just so your car doesn't try to run away on you?'

I know of no place in the manual which tells the owner to 'disengage the awd,' except for towing purposes. You can insert a fuse into the 'FWD' socket in the fuse box, but that actually locks the car into front-wheel drive.

What kind of 'service' are you having done on your front wheels? As long as everything gets put back together the right way, there's nothing that they can do to damage your car while it's being worked on.

in the 1992 owner's manual...page 9-5, at the top is red writing. it's in the general maintenance and service section.
