low idle and vibrations when cold

Hello everyone.. I wasn't sure if the 2 (low idle and vibrations) are part of the same problem but if I start the car in the morning and drive up a hill or drive the car too hard the engine just starts vibrating/pulsating/shuddering. When I turn the car off and then back on again about 2 times, the issue dissapears.

I personally don't think it's the MAF but I'm not sure because I've never experienced a dying MAF (MAF is 3 years old), this has happened for about 2 years, the alternator has been rebuilt recently but I always knew this wasn't the problem.
Year 1 - happened twice that year
Year 2 - has happened about 3 or 4 times.
past few of days, has happened... everyday!

I'd really like to tackle this problem, I've narrowed it down to something electrical or vacuum lines or EGR.

I am getting no codes.

Can I please have someones opinion!!!

Thanks, Jordan.

hi it sounds like your getting miss fires from the engine ,either from a coil or injector ,injectors do have codes for electrical failure but not from mechanical failure ,with cars with out codes i get a second person with the the car in gear try to load the engine and get it to happen then you can disconnect injectors to try and locate the cylinder or more than one that is giving you the trouble ,swap the coil to another cylinder to see if its the coil or injector

Re: low idle and vibrations when cold

Thanks I'm going to look into the fuel injector and vac lines first.

I haven't done my research about vac lines but can they cause a low idle intermittently?

I don't think it's the coils because it happens so rarely and it's a perfect pattern. It only happens rarely and triggers after about 5 mins of driving when I've started the car from cold. Always from cold.

For the first 5 mins of driving the car drives perfectly and then I get a shakiness so I turn the car off wait a minute turn it back on and it's fine!!!

Jordan.

Could very easily just be that you are running some spark plug other than NGK double platinums.

I have just started getting the same problem, it only happens in the morning after sitting overnight.

I thought that it could be water from a contaminated gas station in the gas tank that settles overnight.

That's exactly it!!! if the car sits for 12 or more hours, there's a chance of it happening and if the cars already warm and you start driving it, then problem NEVER happens.

Re: low idle and vibrations when cold

I put some injector cleaner through mine and meths in the tank (to absorb water) and it has cleared up.

I know, I should have let you know earlier.
