multiple problems

simply put, here are my problems:
-clock does not work/light up
-climate control does not work/light up
-all windows except drivers front will not roll down

i noticed all of this today while driving the car after letting it sit for a week
the car drives fine so im assuming its just something electrical?

i figure always check the easiest, most obvious things first, so i changed out some fuses, but still have no luck in anything being fixed.
these are the fuses i changed:
-10A clock (under hood) #25
-10A A/C (under hood) #33
-10A illumination brightness control (under dash) #9
-15A heater fan (under dash) #20
-15A heater fan (under dash) #21

Re: multiple problems

maybe you fried some wires? I would run a multimeter on the plugs for those things to see if they get any power.

Re: multiple problems

Do you have an aftermarket sound system/head unit? Could be some wires in there shorted out??? Is your cigar lighter working?

Re: multiple problems

new aftermarket radio/cd player was installed some years back. and just recently i had an iPod playing system installed
and no, my cigarette lighter doesn't work anymore either

Re: multiple problems

If cigarette lighter fuse is blown it will affect clock and climate control--worth a check. Also double check window lockout switch just above window controls on driver door--it disables all others. Just a couple of thoughts.

The Cig lighter fuse is probably blown. Happened to me that is most likely the problem. Took me pulling all the fuses to find that :( its a 20 AMP (yellow) one.

thank you much
that was my problem

why does the fuse for the cig lighter effect the clock and climate control?

I wish I could tell you but I remember when it happened to me and I was told to pull out the multimeter :P but its known now about that lighter. Glad its a simply cheap fix huh?

Re: multiple problems

im bringing this thread back up because after about 2 weeks of replacing the cigarette lighter fuse, its blown again.
i put in another fuse, turn on the car, and it pops after a few seconds.

so i assumed there was a shorted wire somewhere, and took the car to this guy i know who works for a car audio/stereo company called Inphase. (he installed my electric start/door lock/unlock switch, and i was wondering if my problems were caused somehow by the wiring he had done for that in the first place)
but after looking at it he cant seem to find the problem
he believes that maybe my cigarette lighter *switch* may be bad

any suggestions?

as of now i cannot use my A/C climate control or clock:(

Re: multiple problems

I would disconnect the cigar lighter and see what happens in case there could be a short in the lighter itself.

Re: multiple problems

what do i check when the cigarette lighter is disconnected?

i mean, if the climate control and clock wont work when the cig lighter fuse is blown, then the climate control and clock wont work when the lighter is removed, will it?

sorry, idk much about this type of stuff
