Reading IX: Lunch option

This is what the Holiday Inn offered us this year:

A box lunch consisting of sandwich (turkey or ham), fruit, chips and soda for $9.95, plus tax and gratuity. I told Sydney that this was worse than this year and far worse than two years ago and not acceptable! So I closed the door on this option for Reading IX.

But for every door that closes, a window opens... :)

I just had a conversation with Toby Gregor, owner of Toby’s Café in the food court attached to the mall/furniture outlet. This is what he can offer us on Saturday.

The Mall opens its doors at 10am and Toby's is open from 10:30am-6:30pm on Saturdays. (we might persuade him to open a little earlier) They offer a fairly comprehensive menu that should please everyone. Here is a partial listing:

Soups

Salads

Pizza

... with various toppings (both personal and full-size)

Hamburgers/ cheeseburgers

Sandwiches
... ham, turkey, roast beef, chicken salad, BLT, bourbon pork BBQ, grilled chicken, grilled cheese, etc.

Chili Dogs

Pretzel Pups
... hot dogs wrapped in pretzel dough, with bacon and cheese, or spicy jalapeno cheese

Muffins/Danish

Soft drinks/ Iced tea

Coffee

These are all reasonably priced and cheaper than the hotel. Available for eat-in or carryout. More information as it comes in. I think this gives us lots more latitude and versatility during the day, as opposed to having a set 9possibly inconvient)time to eat.

Sounds great to me! Heck, if they open at 10:30, I'll go there for breakfast!

I'd definitely give Toby's a chance. I wasn't too impressed with Holiday Inn's lunch efforts.

At least the Holiday Inn is not the only game in town. :) :)

On a side note, speaking about your drinking buddy, There is this joke inviolving the ingestion of an Armadillo Burger... goes like this:

Two Texans were having the Blue Plate Special at their favorite truck stop when they heard this awful choking sound. They turned around to see a very attractive woman, sitting a few bar stools down from them, turning blue from the Armadillo burger she ate too fast.

The first Texan said to the other, "Think we oughtta help?"
"Yep, reckon so", says the second.

The first Texan gets up, walks over to the lady and asks, "Can you breathe?"
She shakes her head, "no".

"Can you speak?" he then asks.
She shakes her head, "no", again.

With that, he helps her to her feet, lifts up her skirt, and starts to lick her on the butt.

She is so shocked, she coughs up the obstruction and, with great relief, begins to breathe normally again

The first Texan turns back to his friend and says with a smile,

"Funny how that Hind-Lick Maneuver works every time!"

I would hate to know what they would have done if she was choking on a donkey burger. :o

I updated the food list and price changes (if any) for Toby's cafe in the previous post

(Holiday Inn wanted a guaranteed minimum of 25 people to be open for Saturday lunch. I respectfully declined and repeated our reasons and the disappointment in the lunch offering last year.)

I think Toby's will better suit our needs this year. There will be a lot going on and flexibility is essential.

38 days til lunch!

Yeah, Toby's is in what used to be the Food Court at the mall. Now it's not so much of a food court since Toby's is the only place left...

Bev knows when the meet is and plans to be open for us. We haven't talked about any specifics as of yet. It's open for discussion, any comments? requests?
