Re: WTB: Master window switch
Watch ebay as a last resort. Have seen them for 50$ there. New ones can be found there for 120$

Re: WTB: Master window switch
Ouch, no thanks. They can be found local usually for less than $10. There seem to be a shortage as of late tho :(

Re: WTB: Master window switch
If you do find one why not pull the old one apart to see what failed. Might just be a broken piece of plastic that JB weld or Gorilla super glue (like it better on plastics than the generic super glues) can repair. Keep it as a spare. Good luck in any case

Re: WTB: Master window switch
Thanks Gwenethh, will do. Funny thing I went through this with my 92. I even did a write up on how to modify the post 92s for auto up/down but I can't find it. IIRC the old one couldn't be fixed that's why I had to go post 92.

Re: WTB: Master window switch
If someone finds the cure for making them Auto Up I wold like the instructions. With a 5 speed it is a problem not having the auto up. Toll booth, drive up windows etc.. Especially in the rain shifting and driving is tough.

Re: WTB: Master window switch
Be careful with taking apart the unit. Make sure you dont need it to go back into the car if you do decide to disassemble.
Between the little spring for the lock mechanism and the bits of tired brittle plastic for the rockers, you really need to be careful when messing with the master switch. |
Re: WTB: Master window switch
I have 3 sets 2 i bought that were not auto up and one someone sent me that was but came broken. i may operate on them over the winter. let you know what i find yes they do fall apart easily

Re: WTB: Master window switch
It looks like the new one I got from ebay is a little different. I decided to take apart the old one to find out what's wrong. The top half of the switch is fine, it's the tiny internal part that malfunctioned. There are 2 diodes that need to be unsoldered to see what's going on  So the hunt for a replacement is still on.
