tranny at high rpms

I recently just finished the tranny, its running good, but I still need to do the band adjustment, but before I do that I am going to swap out the tcu, and see if it works. I was testing it and at around 80 it was at 3600 rpm, I think thats alot, is there something wrong? It was never that high. :(

Should be around 2800 rpms at 80.

maybe you have a gear not shifting, my car does 1900 rpm at 60 (overdrive), at 80 it should be around 2400 rpms

Sounds like the torque converter isn't locking up. Don't quite know what's up with that . . .

Well he has an Impreza tranny in there now. I'm thinking that could be the reason.

The T/c locks up sometimes. It shifts fine. Still confused

3600 rpm, 0.694 overdrive, 5187.3198 pinion rpm, 3.70 to 1 ring and pinion ratio, 1401.9783 axle rpm,
stock tire on a fwd, 225/50/16, is 24.86 tall (when new).=9124.5333 ft/min, or 1.7281313 miles a minute, or 103.68787 mph?

3600 rpm, 0.694 od, 5187.3198 pinion rpm, if 4.11 gears, now its 1262.1216 axle rpm,
24.86" tall tire, now 8214.3001 ft/min, or 1.5557386 miles a minute, or 93.344316 mph?

The spedo does not know if you have worn tires, and worn tires would have no effect on the relationship between spedo ant tachometer.
If its NOT slipping, and you can feel the shift from first to second, the shift from second to third, and the shift from third to fourth. The only other "shift you have to feel is the transmission torque converter locking up.
If you have all that, and you check the accuracy of your spedometer with a stopwatch and several mile markers, ( at 60 mph they should go be at exactly one minute intervals ), then, I would guess that the TPS was out of adjustment.

Theres an idea, what torque converteryou use, the Impreza, or an SVX T/Q.

Tom, I also added another test to your list, lol. I put the car in 3rd and drove it around the 70's-80's and then I shifted the gear selector into drive, it definitely went down in rpms, is that a definite fact of me having 4th gear. I definitely put the svx torque converter.

Today with the greatful help of svxfiles, I set the tps to .51 volts, It's supposed to be at .50 but when I reached .50 and I tightened it, it went to .51, I tried to go to .49 so maybe it can go to .50 but no luck. But I noticed that the idle is around 1k before it used to be normal around 700. What should I do? I read in another post by Trevor to be around .45 volts. AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH this car is driving me crazy!!!!

Ok, the t/c locked up today and the rpms was way lower, it was around 3050 at 80, something around it.

I have watched my car on the highway, when I am at 60 mph (100 km/h) my car is on 1950 rpms. My car is originally from Saudi Arabia, and there they have no mountains. mechanics say that the cars' differential is customized for that region especially to cope with long distances (not differentials that can handle mountain roads)... I have seen such differentials on a mercedes 230 E, the differential is bigger than normal... any one reading exactly 1950 rpms figure over 60 mph ? I wanna know what kind of differential is installed in my car.
