Bonneville 130 club

I am returning to Bonneville in two weeks to spectate. The 130 mpg Club is also apealing, but I am not sure if the SVX could do it. You would have to get 130-140 within a mile as I read the rules. One road test said 15.5 sec 1/4 mile and 120 mph after 28 seconds. Does anyone know how long it takes to reach 130 plus on pavement?

Re: Bonneville 130 club

IIRC it's a 2-mile course. 1mile run-up, 1mile timed. An SVX in good tune should be capable of going out the back door @ 140mph. That would net you a low 130's time, and membership in a cool club indeed. My 268K SVX is still capable of 130mph, not in 2mi though mind you. :)

For 130 MPH club, it is not a 2 mile course. Just standing start 1 mile.

Re: Bonneville 130 club

OK, so pull over on the interstate directly @ a mile marker. Stand on it for a mile & see how fast you're going.....I'm guessing 120-130mph for an SVX in good shape. After all, when new, they did the 1/4mi in ~15sec @ ~90mph.

It's a world of difference from 120 to 140, 0-120 is fairly fast, 120-130, meh, 130-140, wait for it... 140+ lots of paitence & lots of open road!

Re: Bonneville 130 club

I was just dreaming of the same possibilities last week. Reading up on El Mirage lake, they allow non-club members to do "Timing Only" runs, no official numbers/ineligible for records, but with a nice flat 6mi run I'm sure I could get it up there. Plus in the "Under 150mph" class, no special equipment is required beyond 3point belts, and a helmet.

Tom, you should just go to Maxton AFB in North Carolina. Not too bad of a haul, and it's concrete. ECTA runs the same basic rules as SCTA.

Heck, if you drive to Maxton at 130+ mph, you can be there, set a record, and be back home in time for dinner.

Re: Bonneville 130 club

Looking at the Maxton record for E class Real Street at 125 or something, I doubt the SVX would make it to 130.
