Air Intake..

Iam looking at putting in a Air intake in My 1992 SVX. I could use advice since this is my winter car also here in Coloroad, if it will be better for me to just stick with the stock Air filter Box.

Yes.

Supposed "cold air intakes" are just cone filters that suck in HOT air from the engine bay. the stock air box pulls in air from the render and is isolated from the hot engine bay.

Re: Air Intake..

If you do the intake, as suggested you should route the cone filter OUTSIDE the engine bay where the stock resonator sits..... An intake only improves horsepower if its not ingesting hot underhood air. I know Checker/Schucks/Kragen sell piping, joints, and rubber connectors that make extending the intake out into the fenderwell possible. You can do a quick search and find ample info about removing the stock resonator.

Re: Air Intake..

alot of import guys will run the intake into the front fenderwells, just make sure its clear from sucking up water and dirt from the road.

if you want a real cold air intake i would retrofit an intercooler to your car and direct your intake through the intercooler.

 This would do nothing but restrict air.
