Jumping the Neutral Safety

1 Attachment(s)
i'm looking at the wiring diagram for the INHIBITOR "NEUTRAL SAFETY" Switch

do i jump the LT GRN/YEL for N INDIC?

or do i jump the BLK/YEL (starting/charging) and BLU/WHT (or BLK/WHT) SYSTEM?

I uploaded a pic of the section of the wiring.

I looked earlier but didn't understand the question...
What are you trying to "jump"?

Copypasta from wherever this came from, slightly edited for clarity when I needed it:

Quote:

Neutral- You must run two wires, one for each pin on the switch. These two wires must run to the transmission harness that attaches to the inhibitor switch on the passenger side of the auto.
Here you will find 4 wires in a row.
black w/ yellow stripe,
Blue w/ white stripe,
Green w/ red stripe,
Brown w/ a yellow.

The wires you need for neutral will be the blue/white and black/yellow. You need to run 14awg wire from the pins on the switch(on the pedal) to the black/yellow and blue/white wires.

Reverse lights- First you need to locate the reverse switch on the trans. The reverse switch will only show continuity when in reverse and no other gear. The in gear switch will show continuity with all gears inlcuding reverse but none while in neutral. If it is an older model tran (4.11 cable style) the color of wires are usually red and red/white. You need to run an 18 or so gauge wire from each of these to the same harness you did for the neutral switch. The brown/yellow and the green/red wires will be the two you need to connect the two reverse light wires to. This will allow the reverse lights to illuminate when in reverse only. If they illuminate in all gears, you hooked up the wrong switch.

what if i'm not using the switch on the pedal? can i just wire em together?

NikFu S. 08-21-2010 09:20 PM

Yes, but your cruise control will no longer work.

Thanks, someone should prolly add that to the How-TO

Re: Jumping the Neutral Safety

last question,
does the TCU still need to be plugged in for this to work? wasnt sure if that part of the wiring is connected to the ecu.

Re: Jumping the Neutral Safety

The TCU can be removed.

And make sure that you use a heavy wire to either jump the pins or run to the clutch pedal.

thanks Dave, i think all i have is 14ga, wire anyways, i was just wondering cause i dont wanna have to put that thing back in there, the wiring under my dash is a mess from the previous owner who had a bunch of stuff installed.

Re: Jumping the Neutral Safety

the wiring on my transmission is weird, it doesnt follow that coding at all,
that row for my was blk/yel, blk/wht, brown, yellow/blue.

i wired the neutral wires to a switch :P, so if i leave my car parked and someone tries to take it the switch will be off :D

NikFu S. 08-23-2010 11:27 PM

I did the same thing. I put the reverse lights on a switch as well.
