Air conditioner blowing hot air
Today, i got my windows tinted and those of you who have ever got windows tinted, they know that you cant roll down the windows for about 48hrs. I live in AZ and it is about 90 degrees out. I turned ma A/c on , but it only blew hot air. I tried turning it on and off and enonomy mode, but it still blew hot air. I was frying my ying yangs off for 45 minutes!! Any ideas on what maybe the cause?
Thnx |
compressor dead?
condensor leak? not enough freon...some other leak in the system |
First check the compressor.
Compressor NOT working: a)low refrigerant. b)low pressure safety switch triggered. c) blown fuse for the compressor's clutch. d) compressor has seized. e) loose belts. Compressor WORKING: a)defective Expansion valve. b) low pressure. c)obstruction in the evaporator or condenser. d)dirty coils. |
there is a how thats near the radiators drivers side it goes from the compressor to the condensor its a common hose that breaks i think its the main pressure hose
it runs around 140.00$ what ever you do do not get the freeze 12 freon!!! its a suplements to the r12 but it suxs, find a local a/c shop and replace it with the r-12 |
Hope it's not doing what mine started doing. It blows heated hot air on all temp settings, including vent. I'm dreading taking the dash apart to see if the mixing door is jammed or the motor not working.
The last time it was recharged, they did put in the Freeze 12 stuff. What is the problem with it? Gene |
hmm, i'll look into what all you said. i'll keep you updated on what i checked ect.
thnx |
I just started my car, let it warm up, then turned tha a/c on....well, today no air came out. i turnded in on and off a few times, nothing. i then tried the econ, nothing. the vent works, the fans work on all 3 speeds, but the a/c doens't work. i checke the fuse, it's ok, the relay is fine. im getting P.O. im thinking of going in to an a/c shop and see what they say

set the temp to 65 and hit auto.....econ turns off the a/c compressor. You might have to get your system recharged....easy thing to do yourself if you have r-134a
|
Have a look at the glass on top of the A/C by the passenger front headlight. If you see a bubble in the glass you are low on coolant. Ditto if you can't see any liquid at all.
|
Did you check the compressor? Low refrigerant will shut down the compressor.
|
Yeah, the climate controll unit is likely working properly. youll have look at the a/c stuff under the hood.Let the car run and see if the a/c compresses is spinning. See if the clutches catch. look at the condensor and check for bubbles. Hell, even feel all the ac lines just to see if they get cold. Report any findings back to us

Today I Got The Same Problem As You .
I Will Try To Check Into That Tommorow. Did You Find What Was Wrong With Yours? |
Lucky you, my compessor is totaly locked up.:( I will be doing surgery on it on Saturday, new compressor, dryer and expansion valve. Is a hell of a first project but I'm in San Antonio and AC is near a neccecity down here. I plan to be able to fix anything on the car as time passes, if anyone knows where I can get some full shop manuals let me know, have a Chilton for now.
