What is the Best and Rarest year?

Well? What is the best year and the rarest year? Right now, I've been told by my Subie mechanic that the best year is 93+, but that you won't find any 93's cuz they only made 200 or so of them and they all came in Red... So ya, I have a feeling I might be asking alot of noobie questions here in the next few weeks... sorry in advance about that...:D

mikecg 07-25-2005 12:59 PM

Rarest = '97
Best is debatable, but I'd say anything pre-'96 do strictly to the OBDII. Most of ECUTunes stuff is for non-OBDII cars. I like the 94-95's Barcelona Red for color chooses.

'93 they produced 3,859
'97 only 640 (lowest of any single year) were produced. It's also the last year.

P.S. You may want to consider finding a new machanic

Jon

The rarest of the SVXes is the 93. They made 301 of them for the US and they were the 25th Anniversary Edition (AE). The were all the same and are Barcelona Red and the LS-L model.

The Best would be anything that is a 94 or newer because of the improvements in the transmission. They didn't do anything major, but there were some improvements. They made FWD in 94 and 95. I would still put on a filter and cooler on any year to help the transmission. :)

Sweet... wow 93 is quite rare...

'93 saw the highest number of cars produced. However they were not all consider Anniversary additions. If you go by package then yes the '93 Anniversary Addition is the rarest. For model year only the '97 was the lowest.

you are probobly looking at the #'s sold rather than the #'s produced. For the model year of 93 301 SVXes were produced all of which were the barcelona red AE LS-L like earl said. Don't doubt the man he's almost in the double digits on svxi

the rest of the "93's" are actually 92s that were left over.

i'd have to also say that many of the 97s are technically 96s that are left over, so i'm not sure exactly how many 97's there are (the only way to tell the difference between them is the 97s came with smaller tires, and a different grill)

I don't know what numbers you are looking at, but the 92 had the most produced as a model year. Those were both 91 and 92s.

Yes, there were more 93s produced than 301, but went to other countries. The 25th Anniversary Editon was celebrating the 25 years that Subaru had shipped cars to the US. :)

Exactly. The other 93's you see are just left over 92's. The only SVX's that were produced in 1993 are the anniversary edition to which there is only 301 of them to be exact. The 97's are pretty much left over 96's with a new style front grill and slightly different tires.

they should of at least # them or some thing do to the last year and all. but they changed the center light. yank yank it saves me 200 bones to not have to purchase the small car grille.

oab_au 07-25-2005 06:49 PM

The best model!

I may be a bit biased, :D but the 95 model, all the bugs fixed, and not as much emission restrictions as the OBD11 models.

Of course it must be an Euro model with VTD AWD, 3.7:1 final drive ratio, no speed limiting, and even less emission restrictions.

Harvey. ;)

KCROGUEDOG 07-25-2005 07:06 PM

true story the obd2 sucks less options for mods if u want to pass emissions. i got to get mine registered in mo and i know 2 people who should pass my car. do to the dual no cats. if not im forced to put a weld a cat shell on the pipes for looks. all they do in the mo is peek to see if they are there. 95 would be best buy. but the 97s are classic like the 96 zs.

The Korean 07-25-2005 07:42 PM

What about price-wise? I found a 97 for around 10k and a 92 for under 2k... that's a HUGE difference in price...

ensteele 07-25-2005 08:04 PM

Ya gets what ya pay for! :) Year, model, mileage, condition and mods all affect the price. :) Don't buy the first one that comes along unless you feel it is a good sound car and you don't have to do too much to it. :)

I guess I did the wrong thing then. 2k worth of body work.... blown engine...trans on the way out.... not to mention some other "quirks" that needed to be worked out.
