Mercedes Club Driving Events

We now have tentative autocross dates and firm dates for track events. Visit the clubs web site for up-to-date details and requirement and costs ...... www.gws-mbca.org

AUTOCROSS in Winchester, VA (at Millbrook High School lot)
- April 26
- May 24
- June 21
- July 12
- August 23
- Sept 13
- Oct 11
- Nov 1

Track Events (firm dates)
- April 20 - Summit Point Raceway, main course
- June 11-12 - Virginia International Raceway
- July 27-28 - Summit Point Raceway, Shenandoah course
- Sept 26-27 New Jersey MP, Lighting course

There is a limit of 50 cars for the autocrosses. VERY large parking lot (only ONE light pole in the middle). Usually three practice runs in the morning - three or four (depending on the number of participants) runs in the afternoon for "official" time runs. SCCA rules apply.

Track events require an inspection form (by a certified mechanic) as to the safety of the vehicle and an inspection at the track (for lug nuts, helmets, tires, etc). Instructors are available.

Hope to see you at some of the events ....

Harry

Currently I am not planning to be there, but that may change. But even if I am not there, try to attend this event - you will enjoy it, and it is a great bunch of guys and gals ....

Harry let me know if your plans change for the land of golden chains as well in September. I'd like to see how fast the XJR really is on a track. Already know 60 goes buy in under 4.7 with traction control on but it kinda scares me to push it to its limits.

Also, are you thining about going to the Sept or Oct. autox? If so do they require a roll bar for convertibles. How about a sound limit as I know I'm pushing the 98dBA.

Ben,
Not sure what the "golden Chains are" ....

The next tack day for the Mercedes Club is July 24/25, 2010 at Summit Point Raceway- two weeks from now. Great price for running - $175 per day or $340 for both days - check out http://gws-mbca.org/events/SP07-10_DE.html

For convertibles, a roll bar IS REQUIRED at Summit Point and most other tracks. Roll bars are NOT required for autocross.
I plan to make all of the Mercedes autocrosses for the rest of the year as well as Cumberland Pumpin Carve. As long as your car is licensed for the road with valid tags, inspection sticker, etc, there should be no problem with how loud it is. We had, a few months ago, a Cobra to come run autocross with us, and he was stopped by the cops on the way there for being too loud, but he was allowed to run with us - it was a 428 Cobra Superformance. Boy was he fast - took Fastest Time of the Day!
Autocross schedule is at http://gws-mbca.org/ax/autocross.html - hope you can make one and perhaps the Summit event - but do have a roll bar for Summit.

Just Jersey.;) I know I won't be able to make any plans until after the summer ends so I was thinking about then. Will definately try to get down for an autox in the TVR once I get my steering rack wobble fixed

Damn, would love to make the summit point day but the M is not ready to get onto a big boy track just yet... Will try to make some of OT's AX's though, would be interesting to see how it fairs

Tom,
Change the oil, put on new pads, change the brake fluid, and you are ready to go - come on down! You just can't beat the price of $175 for a day at the track!!! And the "M" would love the Shenandoah Circuit too!!! Two miles and 17 turns!!

Re: Mercedes Club Driving Events

Ah if only it were that simple... There is more work to be done with the suspension. Need new mounts for the rear struts... Couple odd ball bits and pieces as well. Just not gonna get to it in time. Not to mention there is no seat time with this car pushing the envelope... I mean I haven't even gotten a little nutty on the street like I normally used to. Meh, gonna take a few auto-x's with Emily before I take her on the track

Okay, here are some pics and videos from last weekend at Summit Point, Shenandoah Circuit - 2 miles and 17 turns. A couple of videos of the '92 SVX as well as my on-car camera. Thanks to OT for the coil-overs. Boy do they make a difference!!
