Asking for a shop recommendation, please

Hey guys, long time it has been! (Gosh, that sounds like Yoda, doesn't it?)

Kinda' lost touch with y'all as I actually went back to work FULL TIME! helping out a couple of friends... Also took a 5-week cross country trip (unfortunately it was not in the SVX, this time) which went as far South as St. Pete & as far North as Rochester, NY.

Rode my ZX-11 home from NJ. Also found one of my dream motorcycles, a 2001 Valkyrie Interstate with 2,400 miles on it, waiting for me back here! FLAT SIXES RULE!

Anyway, I'm getting ready to have some MAJOR (well, Major for me) PM work done on my SVX , now @ 119K, including the timing belt, water pump, seals, etc. Have my new radiator to put in as well. I bought it after my initial tries at fixing it with JB Weld leaked, only to find out that my LAST repair attempt worked perfectly! Duh!

I've used a couple of the Subaru Dealerships here in the Portland area for most of the work I haven't done myself: I'm hoping for a recommendation from you guys vis-a-vis either a suggested and specific Dealer/Mechanic or an independant Subaru/SVX shop as I want the work done correctly the 1st time... Might even go to ss brake lines, etc.

Thanks in advance for your consideration!;)

Hey Norm, good to see you are still around! :)

The trip sounds fun and a very good excuse for the long time no see. Someday...

Anyway, I don't have any recommendations down your way, my standard recommendation is usually Smart Service (a very good independent shop where all 3 techs know the SVX very well), but they are located about 20 minutes north of Seattle. :D

Of course, if you were to come to the Fall Colors Tour Oct. 16th.... :D Let's see, you could make an appointment to drop it off with Smart Service Friday morning, they'd give you the free rental car (for that kind of service), then pick it up Friday night, drive up to Earl's for a BBQ (sorry, our Bulgarian member is currently in FL), spend the night there, and be ready for the meet on Saturday!

:D

Hrmm there was a dealer I liked just outside of Portland (they didnt charge me for a prepurchase inspection because they found obvious probs without much effort), let me see if I can remember where it is.

Fall ColorsIII

I'd have loved to attend, but am committed to a previous engagement that weekend: one of my 1st cousins is turning 80 and there is a big party for him in The Windy City (or is it now called The Second City?) that Sat.

Got a R/T ticket to Midway just yesterday on Frontier for $221!

If you are willing to drive up to the Seattle area, Dave Clark Motorsports can take care of all your needs. His shop is in Kent which is just about 15 min south of downtown Seattle. 425 221 2470.

Norm

Good to see you post again. Hope to see you at some of the next meets. :)

The place I liked near Portland was a dealership in Beaverton: Carr Subaru
