Brake upgrade options
 

I understand that I need to upgrade my brakes whenever I increase power. I have replaced my front rotors with slotted ones from motorsport warehouse when my rotor was destroyed due to a brake pad "reed" not allerting me of it being worn out..oops. I know that these rotors will vent gasses better which will allow my rotors to accept a little more braking before warping?, but I would like to know of all of my options for replacing my brake setup that would not cost me my right arm, and would fit into 16" wheels. Would simply adding new brake lines in conjunction with my slotted rotors be enough?, or do I need to upgrade my calipers for more powerful ones too?

I myself just did drilled/slotted rotors all around along with ceramic pads and stainless lines. THere is a DRAMATIC difference in stopping power. I'd say this is the way to go unless you have a track car.

the d/s rotors extra venting helps prevent brake fade a bit more than "warped" rotors. The same conditions that would normally create any surface discontinuities will still apply to slotted rotors (So no 100mph to dead stops...you'll still screw up your brakes)

In addition to the d/s rotors and good pads, stainless lines help give the brakes stiffer feel. If you are looking for a CHEAP way to stiffen up the brakes, you can actually reinforce the rubber lines with zip ties, placed one after the other. Another cheap trick is to drill some holes in the dust shield to allow better heat venting

That's true but...come on, they're $100. $25 a line that bolts right on and has stock mounting brackets is a steal to me.
