OT -- Sightings of other cars

Coming home from work tonight I saw a bright pink Mazda Miata convertible. The driver must work for Mary Kay cosmetics.

Last Saturday we were stopped at a light behind a big dark blue BMW sedan. The Beautiful Naviguesser turned to me and said; "What kind of car is a 74 Oil ?" I looked at the chrome lettering on the trunk lid of the BMW. It read "740iL."
I just laughed and laughed. I told her that only Saudi shieks and Exxon CEOs can afford to buy '74 Oils'.

Subaru?

Yesterday I drove around in our small town and what did I see?
I saw a Subaru "Leone Turismo"!?!
I have never seen that car before.
It looked a little bit like a mix of an old Legacy and a XT.
I got no chance to stop right next to him and have a small talk.
Just curious. Maybe I will see that guy again.

My favorite from recent memory is a first-gen Explorer with one of those fake ragtops over the entire roof.

Yeah, like you're fooling anyone...

Went to Best Buy yesterday to purchase peripherals for my latest "orphan" product (IBM ThinkPad TransNote) and parked cattywhompus from one another, were two SC 450's. A Red with the hard top in place and a Silver with the hard top removed.

First of all, it's the SC 430, not the 450.

Second of all, the hard top doesn't get 'removed - it folds into the rear of the car.

Third, 'cattywhompus?' You get extra points for using it, but I think you get them taken away for using it incorrectly - unless both cars were upside-down. :D

Randy,

According to the Beautiful Naviguesser, who is a teacher of English (not Kentuckianese Teacher), YOU ARE WRONG AND MR. POCKETS IS CORRECT !!!!

Cattywampus is defined as "Askew or Catty-cornered" not upside down.

However, Pockets still loses points on spelling.

Look it up in your FUNK & WAGNALLS.

Look where?

I aint got no funky wagnalls! Anyway.....

Got a chance to drive a Lexus LS430 two weeks ago.
I think it kinda redefines LUXURY.....

Everyone has heard of heated seats, but ones that blow air through perforations in the leather to keep your butt cool?

Dash vents that OSCILLATE?

Talking onboard navigator/GPS/route, restaurant, hospital, gas station, shopping (etc.) finder?

Radar parking/cruise control/avoidance system?

Personal climate controls for driver and each passenger?

This thing had more bells and whistles than my cat has fleas.
Quite a piece of work.

It also costs more than my home....... :( Don

In your verve to prove me WRONG, you have proved me RIGHT. Read the post again. Mr. Pockets described cattywhompus as "upside down." As for spelling, since it's basically a "nonsense word" you can spell it your way and I'll spell it mine. So there. :p Besides, I'd never use "catty cornered." It's TOO feminine. :D
