dome light problems
So when I open my door my dome light wont come on. The lights on the door come on but not the one on the roof. I hit the the inside light button and it comes on but nothing when I open the door. I even replace the sunroof/dome light assembly. Can someone help or tell me where the button is that tells you when the door is shut or open. Any help would be helpful. Thanks

Re: dome light problems
Have you tried the "Door" button on the headliner panel? I believe that one controls the open/closed door thing. Open the door and click the button a couple times.
Also, try the passenger door. It might be an issue with the door open signal from the drivers side. |
Re: dome light problems
Yea I tried that button. even replaced the whole switch with the lights and sunroof buttons. still the same thing. Ill check the passenger side switch and see.

Re: dome light problems
Where is the door open signal located?

Re: dome light problems
Most likely the door switch is the issue, during normal operation (eg door open) these should short to ground / body of car.
Most times the mushroom shape at the end has picked up a bit of dirt/oxidised & fails to make the connection, just by removing it from body & cleaning it is enough to get it going again. |
Re: dome light problems
still cant find the door switch or the issue. Any suggestion?

Re: dome light problems
I had the same problem and it was a fuse under the hood. Are you sure nothing else is not working.
|
Re: dome light problems
I'll check the fuses under the hood but I have tried everything. It still comes on when I hit the room button but not when I open the door. The floor lights come on and go off when the door open/closes and when I hit the door button but not the dome light. Such and odd way of malfunctioning

Re: dome light problems
I've had the same issue since buying the car from original owner 18 years ago - I would LOVE to get the overhead light to come on when I open the door! I was getting ready to buy the switch assembly but I might wait since it did not fix your issue. Dealer has looked at it twice over this time - once needing more diagnostic time after $100 bucks of time and most recently they told me I needed the overhead switches replaced.
Any progress? I can't find the door switch either! I guess it must be connected with the doorstop arm somehow? |
Re: dome light problems

The timing unit could be a culprit. Have a look at the factory service manual which can be downloaded here: http://phantomotaku.com/SVX/ Sections 30 and 31 will have all the information you need with diagrams to tackle the problem. |
Re: dome light problems
