Rims that fit

i checked the ?search but didn't find the info I need . I see a set of wheels for sale 17 " 114.3 5 bolt ... That seems fine offset 40 that seems Ok BUT she said that the bore ( hole in center I guess ) is 73 mil. and there is a cap that covers the nuts what is the axle dia. and how far out does the axle stick out? anyone use this type of a wheel ?

Re: Rims that fit

Easiest way to ensure they fit is to order rims (and lugs) for a 2005 STi. Same bolt pattern and offset tolerance as the SVX. Oh and STi sized tires are a little larger than stock but still work so you can just keep the tire person ignorant of things that stress thier mind... like rims from one car can fit another.

Offset 40 *might* work with a narrow rim like you are asking, but you really need to stick to the 48-55 offset range for best results.

Might be mustang. Not sure what the Honda/Acura offsets are.

I believe newer honda's use 5x114.3 with +45 offset, it will technically work I seen someone put them on there svx but the rim might be too narrow for a good fit.

I think some of the older 5 bolt honda's used 5x100 so that would not work.
And most of the honda's are going to be 4bolt.

You can run many of the 5x114.3, or even gm's 5x115 rims the problem you will have is 1. Rubbing the fender if the offset is too low IE a +30 such as some Nissan Z rims. Also depending on how wide you may find a tire rubbing on the inside not the outside. Then and probably the worst thing about running the wrong offset. The stress put on your wheel bearings will cause them to fail prematurely.
This will depend on your diameter, width, and offset though. If I dont have this backwards a 18" rim with a +42 offset that is 8" wide would keep the bearing happy just as if it was stock 16" rim +55 offset 7.5 wide rim.

What about the center hole dia. I am going to try them out on the car. said they are 40 offset 5 hole 114.5 with a 75 mill center hole . What about the center sticking out? These have a cap over the bolts.

Generally aftermarket rims will have overly large hub bore so they fit more vehicles. Though if you have a oem rim then it might cause problems, though I believe 75mm should clear many cars. I think I read our car is 72mm.

As to how much of the axle sticks out again generally it will not be a problem.

Hole diameter:
You would buy a set of hubcentric rings to take the 75mm hub bore wheels down to the 56.15mm hub bore size of the SVX.

The center bore on my wheels are 73.1mm, so I got the 73.1mm to 56.1mm hubcentric rings. Makes everything fit perfect.

Center sticking out?? You got me on this one, no idea.
Wouldn't the studs for the lugs set the depth so it doesn't stick out?

WOW this is a hard decision .. the offset is 55 the rim is 7.5 wide .. The bore is 73. I need 56 . I checked for HUBCENTRIC rings I get prices of $7.00 set of 4 to $60.00 set of 4 what is the difference All were plastic i did find some aluminum ones but the price was in #s

Re: Rims that fit

nah, you don't really need hubcentric rings. Its better to have it right, but people have been doing without just fine.

Re: Rims that fit

I have to agree to a point. #1 the stud fits into the hole with about 1/8 of play max. #2 The nuts have taper ends and go into the rim holes. If the rims holes are that far off the spacer would be crushed . The mechanical advantage of the screw going into a tapered hole is no match for the plastic. One in 10 chance it would be off . It will defiantly make it easier to mount it .Still why are some $7.00 and some $60.00 . It is only a washer/spacer .

Re: Rims that fit

Yes. They will fit. If you run 245/40r18 tires, be aware that you will need to remove the protective rubber flashing on the lip of the wheel wells, and you may need to gently roll upward a section of the lip on the rear wells to keep them from slashing the sidewalls under suspension compression.

Re: Rims that fit

I would definitely get the hubcentric rings, for $7 bucks why not? It's piece of mind and you know the wheel is sitting flush on the hub. I purchased mine off of ebay or amazon...gorilla? brand I think.
