Opinions on paint scheme...
Well the ebony has been getting a lot of attention lately and I am now thinking about bodywork. What does everyone think about doing something like this...

Re: Opinions on paint scheme...
They paint sceme looks good but not on an SVX.:( Why not just repaint the car in a tricoat black? or another shade of black from other car companies?

Re: Opinions on paint scheme...
I LIKE IT! Will you put the black powder coated calipers on this one? I just got back around to working on them and should have them ready for powdercoating this weekend.

If your thinking to separate the gloss and flat where you would usually go to the black top on the SVX I don't think you'd be happy with it.... I just don't see it looking quite right... on this ride... heck yeah looks great!! |
Re: Opinions on paint scheme...
Do it up! ;)

Re: Opinions on paint scheme...
It looks good when it's really clean and you can see that it is supposed to be gloss and matt. But I think when it is dirty it will look like you have bad paint fade on the matt panels.

Re: Opinions on paint scheme...
i like it. but maybe photoshop ur svx in that colour scheme

Re: Opinions on paint scheme...
There are two paint schemes that totally escape me:
* Partial or complete flat/satin/primer (makes the car's paint job look incomplete, like a <body kit bolted to a car without a color match>) * Painting the bumper the same color as the upper and lower grille, like Audis and the <Evo> (looks like there is a huge HOLE in the car) |
Re: Opinions on paint scheme...
If there was some sort of a way to transition into gloss paint a little less "rapidly" I would say it would work out quite well, however having such rigid transition especially if it is defined by specific body parts, definitely gives that look of "makes the car's paint job look incomplete, like a <body kit bolted to a car without a color match>".
Even on that STi, if it wasn't for proper light conditions and angles in those pictures it would look fairly "umm, you are too cheap to paint the rest of your car? gopaintyourcar.kthx.org" -Sov13t. |
Re: Opinions on paint scheme...
It would be somewhat faded into from satin to gloss. Remember this is not flat -to-gloss, but satin-to-gloss. I have some spare body pieces for the ebony so I am going to practice on those and see how exactly I want it.

Re: Opinions on paint scheme...
I think it would be cool, but I would do it straight satin.

Re: Opinions on paint scheme...
Fair enough, but if it starts to look like <this>, bail out!
