Post battery disconnect shifting problems...
Is there a connection to the battery being disconnected during recent service work and the sudden onset of weird shifting? Suddenly the trans holds first until 4000 rpm and it takes 10-15 minutes on the freeway at 75 mph until overdrive kicks in and locks. Until then there is a subtle feeling of the trans "hunting", like it wants to shift but can't...yet. I'm able to "enourage" the shift to second by liftng off the throttle after it gets warm. The shift seems slower too.
Floored it on the freeway at about 65 and it dropped through 4th to 3rd gear! The mechanic road tested the car before I picked it up...could they have damaged the trans running it hard or could it be that they inadvertantly changed the computers shift ponts doing so? Prior to this visit to the shop the trans was the least of my worries after the engine. Worked perfect. '92 SVX 91,500 MILES. Anyone? Anyone? WGJ |
What were they supposed to do to the car?
What are your normal driving habits? (how hard do you push it yourself?) |
Rear Wheel Bearings...
and fresh plugs.

I'd check the 1.Throttle position sensor. 2. The throttle pressure dropping resistor. or 3. The No.1 speed sensor. Don't think it is the gearbox. :) Harvey ;) Harvey. ;) |
Thanks Harv
Talked to my transmission guy first thing this morning and he said the same thing...
Thanks, WGJ |
