my car just started squeeling when i come to a stop
 

:eek: i dont know what it is and its dark so i cant see at the moment but it starts at about 10 kp/h and doesnt seem to be affected by rpm and its not the brakes ? wen i slow down to a stop it cotinues for about 3 or 4 seconds after the car has come to a complete stop :confused:
im hopeing its a loose belt or something else easy il check it tomoro wen i have some light

It is squealing because you are torturing her...

Seriously now, the squealing usually comes from alternator belt, either its tensioner is loose or the crankshaft pulley is starting to crack, or some bolt is loose and making the pulley loose.... Check them out first.

il check the belt/bolts/pulleys tomoro
il get my mech to do a FULL check over aswell wen i get her serviced

ok checked it thismorning the alt belt was a little loose but thats all i could find
havent taken it for a drive yet but will soon hopefully no more squeeling :lol:

Ive never known a loose belt to NOT be affected by RPMs. But it cant be your brakes if it does it after you stop.

So my diagnosis is: You have a gerbil trapped in the filter box, and you're scaring the bleep out of it when you go and stop. Let the lil bleeper go and pray he doesnt sue.... :rolleyes:

I had my a/c belt come a little loose today, It sounded like my motor was clapping for attention :lol:

As Chris said, this might be coming from your brakes, from where are you hearing this sound? while braking or from the engine?

I assumed it was from the belts, since the word "squealing" is directly related to the engine belts (same as barking to the dog :D:lol:)

ok so i think ive worked out what my problem is
i tightened the belts up as much as i could and started her up and took it for a drive no more squeeking
i stopped again and had another look under the hood and noticed my crank shaft pulley seems to be wobbling a little bit
that cant be good can it where do u suggest i get a new one ?

From what i've heaard theyre the same as the liberty one of the same era someone will correct me if i'm wrong i'm sure :)

They are the same. Pretty much any EJ series subaru engine will have the same crank pulley. :)
