Is there a trick to....?

....pulling the nut off of the back of the pinion rod shaft? I have the diff case and rear extension off, but how do you block the pinion from moving to remove the nut. And how big is the nut?

Impact did the trick

I thought it would just spin the shaft, but it popped right off. Thanks.
