Antenna Mast

The motor's fine but my antenna mast broke. Anyone have one?

I'm all out (wouldn't take one apart anyways) but if I remember they were cheaper than I thought from Subaru.

Re: Antenna Mast

They are ~30-40 bucks from Subaru, they are easy to replace but you will need to take your antenna unit out and take the cover off and fish the broken end of the cable out, otherwise the antenna won't work properly.

You can get a pretty spiffy universal antenna socket wrench that will take the nut off. You can use a pair of needle nose or a small punch to get it off, but you risk boogering up the nut and/or scratching your car. I got my antenna wrench from Cornwell Tools for $17 I think, but they are probably available at Harbor Freight for less, or possibly Sears, since they do have a selection of specialty tools.

Re: Antenna Mast

k that's where I was looking. Nothing shows up when I search 'antenna' for my 2WD, 1994. When I search 2WD 1992 this shows up:

04 ROD AY/AUTO ANTENNA 86322PA010
03 NUT/AUTO ANTENNA 86323PA000
01 ANTENNA ASSY 86321PA003
02 CAP AY/AUTO ANTENNA 86326PA000
11 CLIP/ANTENNA 81910TA050

Is it a different part?

Re: Antenna Mast

Shouldn't be a different part. www.subaruparts.com has most of their parts diagrams under the 92s. Not so much on the later ones.

Circlip pliers work good at taking the nut off too.

04 ROD AY/AUTO ANTENNA 86322PA010

That should be the mast (AY = AssemblY)

Re: Antenna Mast

It'll end up costing me $67 shipped. Kind of steep for a stupid little antenna. I don't even listen to the radio. Perhaps I'll go antennaless for awhile longer lol. Thanks for the info.
