weird e-brake light problem
this has been going on for at least two weeks now and when i start the car the emergency brake light randomly is on when the e-brake isnt pulled and i dont know if there is a bad connection or something stupid going on....just seeing if anyone has encountered this stranger problem before
|
Sounds like the brake system is actually saying there's something wrong... though I'm not sure what. Have you had any strangeness while coming to a stop since the problem has been happening?
EDIT: Maybe this is your problem... found it while searching for relevant threads on the brake light being on randomly. http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...00&postcount=6 |
How much fluid is left in the system? How about all the bulbs in your brake system? This light tells info about those as well.
|
I've had that light come on inthe winter when the fluid is low and the rubber inside the cap gets stiff and pushes the float down. I just push the rubber up into the cap and it goes away.
Take care, John |

This generally means what svx_commuter said, or that your fluid is just plain low. |
It might not even be the fluid. Look at the outside to see if its low or not. Then open the cap...clean it off and close it. Light should go off. This is a common problem for these cars from what I have seen.

It also means you need to STFU. |

2. Open brake fluid reseviour. 3. Add brake fluid. 4. Check to make sure diaphram in brake fluid cap isn't popped downwards. Push it back up. You're welcome. :P |
Oh man, no credit 'cause I didn't quote from the thread I linked. I'll have to remember to do that next time. :p
