Need Help
I desperately need your help to talk me out of what I'm about to do. I am currently lusting after a 2006 Baja turbo. I have narrowed it down to 2 trucks. Both have about 125,000+ mile on them, both are clean, both are auto tranny, and both cost about $10,500 - $11,000. Please, please , please, talk me out of this. We currently have 4 SVXes and 2 Outbacks. We only have a 2 car garage. I am like a drug addict who sees a fresh supply of opium.
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!! |
Re: Need Help
I had a BAJA for a short while, and decided It wasn't the car for me....so...my Vote is.... Don't do it! :)

Re: Need Help
I was looking for a Baja for ages. The ones I found were junk or overpriced like the ones you found. That's way too much money for what they are.
They are prone to the usual Outback rust because that's all they are, an Outback with the back windows cut off. Don't do it!!! Too much $$$ for nothing. |
Re: Need Help
If you had found a manual turbo baja, I'd say do it. Super rare even by SVX standards and a neat car with a 4.44 five speed. But at the end of the day, as blacky said, it's an outback with the back chopped off.
Life is short, Subarus are awesome. You want it? Get it. |
Re: Need Help
our Forester XT turbo's engine went at 71k. this was my wife's gently driven, unmodified, meticulously maintained car.
ask Mike Davis about his Legacy GT turbo. Subaru's have a reputation for reliability. it may have been true a long time ago, but not anymore. great marketing by them to maintain that belief, though. |
Re: Need Help
I'm sorry, I cannot echo the general sentiment on here... I have a 2006 Baja Turbo Manual and I love it. Sure, it has all the problems and issues associated with a 12 year old turbo vehicle, but it's awesome just the same.
If you have the need for this type of vehicle, there are very few similar cars produced nowadays that can be as flexible. The current state of the vehicle is all about how it has been driven and maintained... pick the best one you can find. |
Re: Need Help
We have a an '07 turbo Outback. It has never given us any trouble, but we take care of our cars and give them the required service and beyond on time.

Re: Need Help
.
Our 2010 2.5 Outback went 335,000 miles without a hiccup, just regular service. But my much-babied 1996 Polo blew a head gasket in 2010, with just 121,000 miles. No amount of maintenance could have prevented that. . |
Re: Need Help
I've just about decided to get the 2006 Baja turbo. The one I'm going after is silver with 123, 519 miles on it and has a full bed cover.

Re: Need Help
No opinion on the car
But. Life is short. |

And the color is sure to be a perfect match to one of Rosie's lipsticks or OPI nail colors. And I am sure you could find her a summer handbag to go with the interior. (And the lovely "Dooney Diva" in my house probably already has one...) http://pennantmotors.motorlot.com/in...odena-f1--2003 http://vi.vipr.ebaydesc.com/ws/eBayI...1&secureDesc=0 . |
