no STi 2.5L motor swaps yet?

I know the EG33 is super smooth, but I had always figured that if I really wanted to go for the big power in an SVX, I would go with a 2.5L STi motor. And now that the late model Subaru ECU have been cracked, anyone who has a copy of ECUFlash can tune the stock ECU making a 2.5L swap even less expensive and easier. I guess no one has done this yet?

BTW, I've heard that with some basic tuning, the 2007 2.5L STi motors are cranking out 350+ ft-lbs of torque. Crazy stuff. The stock turbo still poops out at around 330 whp though.

Wiring = nightmare. That's why there aren't many swaps going.

But still, the SVX nose would be lighter, hence the car would be more controllable on high speeds and possible drifts ;)

Somebody fund me, and I'll get right on it...

Someone in the northeast has done it. I can't recall their board name, but it has something to do with sti??

Yeah, that's another good reason.

I dunno if the STi's DCCD gearbox can do the trick also with the EG33 by converting most of the partition to the rear wheels...

I still need to read about it..

jman050 10-03-2007 10:56 AM

yeah id consider it if i even knew where to get started as far as the wiring goes. im going for nitrous on the eg33 first and when i want more ill go ej25 but currently its not worth the time or money to me considering i just swapped in a low mileage eg33 last year.

SilverSpear: TomsSVX has the DCCD in his car... I think people will tell you it works just fine. :D

The one person I saw with a swap going was into a laguna blue... but I don't recall any posts about it being finished. They just dropped off the face of the boards. For those interested, the thread is here:

^^^^that wasnt the ej25 from the sti either unfortunately

Nomake Wan 10-03-2007 01:20 PM

Well crap it's the only one I've seen and even that didn't get finished. :p

Oh really??? I still remember arguing with Tom about the possibility to plug in the 6 speed with DCCD into the SVX... he insisted that it won't work and WILL NEVER work...

I wonder how he was able to convince himself of the opposite...
