Great headlight cleaning product

Just recently, I discovered that Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish effortlessly removes the yellowing from the headlight lenses. After trying everything in the book, this is by far the best and it was easy to use. Rub it on with one cloth, then buff it off with another before it dries and the results are amazing. This stuff can be found at any auto parts store and comes in 5 or 10 oz red cans.

medium cut rubbing compound by 3m is nice also. Thats what ive been using for a year now. Gotta use it every 3 days or so as the yellowing keeps coming back.

I've used the 3m and various other rubbing compounds. They work to a certain extent, but not like what Daviegravy recommends. The Mother's is the best. Did wonders on my Legacy and SVX.

I'll pick some up tomorrow and check it out. :)

I've been using this stuff for a while too, it works great on any plastic.

wait...does it come in a small round container? White stuff?....i might have this in my garage...its mag wheel polish or some crap like that. Never used it for my headlights though.

subymtnguy 08-28-2005 09:53 PM

Yep. That's it. Rub it off before it dries for best results.

I think the mag polish is a little better than the 3m....not much to make a difference to me. But maybe that was because my headlights were allready clean  . It definitley does the job and looks great though!

At least once a week....the passenger side light always yellows to a certain extent. The drivers side light never yellows at all. But this stuff made my lights look brand new. Works very well.

I'm still using my "Old Faithful" Novus (well, since Cigar Johnny returned it to me after his safe keeping for a year :) ).

I might try the Mother's on the "Twin," just for giggles. I've had some for some time -- I use it on my exhaust tips.

Translation for Hocrest, use it every 3 months or every other car wash, whichever comes first! :D
