SVX in the News today

Did a check on Google for "subaru svx" in the News area and came up with this article about a seizure of a drug trafficker's property. He owns (or owned) 3 SVXs.

GOVERNMENT STAKES CLAIM ON PROPERTY IN DRUG CASE

By Chery Sabol
The Daily Inter Lake, Montana

Efforts have begun to seize property allegedly used by Ron Ridenour of Whitefish in drug trafficking. Ridenour was arrested Nov. 7 on charges of possessing drugs, possessing drugs with intent to distribute them and possessing property subject to forfeiture. According to forfeiture documents filed recently in District Court, Ridenour is accused of processing and distributing about 20 pounds of marijuana per month for the last five years. One official estimates the value of that much marijuana at more than $2 million.

Officials say that the alleged fruits of that commerce should be surrendered. Items that the city of Whitefish wants to seize include Ridenour's home on East Second Street. A law firm has a secured interest of $75,000 in the property, according to the documents.

A long list of other personal property collected in Whitefish that police there want to seize includes:
• $30,000 in cash
• Two Remington Wingmaster shotguns, a Rossi rifle, a Ruger 10/22 rifle, a Winchester 94/32 rifle, a Ruger 77/22 rifle, a Winchester 94-30-30 rifle, a Smith & Wesson Pistol, a Colt MKIV pistol, an H&R Sportsman pistol and a Walther PPK/S pistol.
• A safe.
• An iMac and a Power Mac G4 computer.
• A brand new snowplow and a utility trailer.
• A 1986 Chevrolet van, two 1992 Subaru SVXs , a 1979 Chevrolet pickup, a 1980 Chevrolet truck, a 1972 Chevrolet truck, a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle, a 1976 Triumph TR6, a 1946 Chevrolet pickup and a 1996 Subaru SVX.

According to the petition to seize the property, the city should receive it because it was used or intended for use in manufacturing or delivering drugs, served as value furnished in exchange for drugs, or is proceeds from drug sales. It's all being held in storage by the city.

The action began when police were called to a domestic disturbance at Ridenour's home on Nov. 6. They were informed of marijuana at the home and allegedly found about three pounds of marijuana in a garbage can. Scales, more marijuana and other items were allegedly found later. City police and members of the Northwest Drug Task Force secured additional search warrants for vehicles and a home in Hungry Horse that allegedly belongs to Ridenour's mother. There, they reportedly found cash, an additional 14 pounds of marijuana and other items used in its distribution.

The items the county could seize from the Hungry Horse home include a Bryco 38 .380 automatic pistol, a Norinco L213 pistol, a 2002 Boss snow plow and a 1979 Airstream motor home. Ridenour ran for the Montana Legislature in House District 83 in 1994. In a publication he published called Common Ground, he said he believes that the prison overcrowding problem is largely due to unwarranted imprisonment of Americans for possession of marijuana. Criminal charges against Ridenour are pending.

I wonder what condition the cars are in? I wonder if the police will sell them at an upcoming auction?

I was wondering the same thing. When's the auction? I wouldn't mind having the TR6, also. :D

His charges are ironic, given his platform when he ran for the state legislature. :D

Could it be this guy??

Same town, and he has 3 svx's.

I see he uses a MAC, so he must be a pretty smart drug runner.
I didn't notice any confiscated Heineken, though.

Ron.

I went back and read some of his posts. He signs the posts with the name "Ron" which is the name of the guy who was apprehended.

Green 1995SVX: No, it can't be that guy because the guy in the article had two '92 models and a '96 model as well.

I noticed that, but he has the same name, has 3 svx's, and lives in the same town. Maybe he traded one of his svx's before he could post about it?

Here's a list of other vehicles he mentioned when trying to sell the SVXes. :

Three 92's and I should sell one. A beautifully modified pearl version with 23000 miles, a silver model with 34000 and a black with 43500 miles are available. I have several sets of wheels and tires from which to choose. Because of the low miles, my prices will be high compared to those costing ten grand with a hundred thousand clicks or more.

Maybe somebody would prefer a nice 64 El Camino with a 350 and four speed. How about a 390 powered 1960 Ford half ton 4X4. Maybe you'd like a Little Red Wagon 79 Dodge half ton.

Too many to list. Should sell a few.

Ron

Sounds like our man. And he seemed to be such a nice guy. :(

Despite that fact, I'll say it's him. He could have traded up anytime. Do a Google on Ron Ridenour. You'll see the Lake Five link. Anyone here maybe buy his other '92? It might be worth it to slash the seats & see what's stashed.

Ron (the "other" Ron, that is).

Green1995SVX 01-28-2004 03:11 PM

This thread proves he sold one of his 92's.

And here's a quote that shows another confiscated item:

"Montana is darned nice. I flew to Pensacola in April and drove a 454 powered 79 Airstream motorhome back to Whitefish."

Actually, not that ironic. He was trying to keep his business going by keeping his customers on the streets.
