I'm feeling left out here in Vancouver Canada

Just thought I'd ask about any Vancouver SVX owners out there?
And if so, has Carfax shown any real data on Canadian SVX's?
Reason I'm asking: I'm currently looking at 2, both 92's in Vancouver, but don't want to get stuck with the wrong one.

All carfax seems to report is where the car was registered. (That's all it showed for mine)

I'm not a Vancouverite (Vancouverer? Vancouverian?) but my sister is, I was thinking of driving up to visit her soon. :)

I don't know if Carfax is just for US, or if it does Canadian records too.

Hmmm, the Carfax website says it includes data from Canada.

Be sure to do lots of research on the threads here and you should be pretty well informed when you go out to test drive the 2 cars. That should help out somewhat.

When you do pick one up, be sure to check in at this forum if you want to get involved in some meets. It's fun to meet the other owners and check out their cars. We usually stick to the Seattle area, but that is only because no one from farther out has expressed much committed interest (anyone from OR even check in here anymore?). We have a couple members within an 1.5 hr. of the border and could certainly have some meets up there closer to you.

Thanks All, I've looked thru a lot of the threads and have found a lot of good info to help my search.
It appears that the ideal vehicle would be perfect, but I realize that I'm not going to find that here.
The 2 I have narrowed it down to are both within the same value.
#1:1992 Black SVX LS-L, 158,000 Kms, vin#JF1CX3536NH109607, had an accident, been repaired, other evidence of incidents, not that clean, mechanically very good(wheel bearings, drive line, trany, engine) but AC does not appear to work.
#2:1992 Maroon SVX LS-L, 170,000 Kms,Vin#JF1CX3532NH105327, 2 window claims, 2 minor accidents(cosmetic) and the body is almost perfect, 1 spider dent on the hood from a badly positioned battery(oops), a door ding on the from Quarter panel, and the rear wing was repainted badly(probably part of one of the vandalism claim), but the Trany fluid smells burnt, so it will have to be either replaced(or if I can burn it out myself within the 6month dealer warrantee, it'll be free) and the AC compressor is completely seized, but there is still preasure in the ac system, the CD player doesn't work(what ever), and the rear diff was binding for my first test drive, but after feedback from these threads, and some aggresive driving, the binding went away on my second test drive.

I prefer #2, as I'm not big on black.

I plan to offer $5kCAN and my Acura Legend as a trade, and it looks like they are willing to deal.

I plan to take #2 to a expert in imports(I trust him) to review the entire drive line and the rest of the vehicle, aswell as investigate all the details I've gathered from this and other SVX sites.

I'd like to know any opinions on some other factors I should concider, and if these VIN#'s sound familiar. I realize that #2 has an older vin# meaning it missed the external trany filter update.
And also which car our readers would pick?

I should get some pics for a better perspective, I'll try, weather here in Vancouver is rainy, so pics don't do the cars true justice.

I welcome feedback. Please

Hi, I'm close to van, I own 3 SVX's (94, 96, 97), maybe might sell the 94, but haven't decided yet. Email me and we'll talk. I also own a 4th svx for a parts car, so I'll try to help you out in that department. I know of 8 svx's locally, we should start something here on the west coast..... My email is igonefishing@yahoo.com

Chris,

Personally, I wouldn't consider the maroon, if the tranny fluid smells burnt. It's one thing to be able to send it 6 feet under and foot the bill to the dealer, but a) it's a big chance, and b) who knows if they'll fix it right. Tranny horror stories are a monthly occurance around here.

The up side is both cars are low mileage. Well, compared to mine at just under 300k km's anyway. :)

I'm pondering at the idea of selling mine as well, as I have a spare car to drive this winter, and I would like to get a newer one in the spring, but I suppose I'm just a tad too far... :D

I see how it is, by making my drive longer you guys are trying to get rid of me....:D

CDG 12-13-2002 09:11 PM

You can relax, I'll probably be expected to do most of the driving.
However I should mention that the US$ goes really far up here in Canada.
And there are lots of good reasons to have one here.
But I think it would help if there was AT LEAST ONE PERSON IN VANCOUVER WITH AN SVX:mad:

Chris,

Simple solution.

MOVE! :D ;)

Strictly Subaru

Where are you located? In the US, or Canada? We have a local group that is active, and would love to have you involved. Email or PM me, and I can give you the details. :)

Earl,

The Ungurans live in Calgary, Canada. I don't know how close that is to Vancouver.
