My ol' Pearly, abandoned but not.

Some fella calling himself Multi has an Abandoned Cars blog, which at one point featured Dave/Tom/Rob/Rebecca's Pearly, fortunately as an example of a survivor!

When I read the title I was like "but it's sitting in my driveway."

Just FYI. This car was totaled last week. While in traffic the car was rear ended and pushed into the car in front. The insurance company has totaled the car. Still waiting to hear how much I will be getting.

I'm not having luck with SVXs lately. I lost my 95 Brilliant Red in 2011 now the Pearly. :( I still have my Claret, so I'm not totally SVX-less.

Too bad about your totalled car.

I just changed insurance company and while speaking with their agent I asked about claims if another driver causes an accident. They assured me that while any company would try to get away with strange cash offers, they are by (local) law obliged to replace my car in full, no matter the cost.

Is it not so in US?

Are you okay Rebecca, no damage to you? I guess I better be cautious about driving in Maryland.

My husband was driving the car at the time. He's fine so the doctors say. It was the other drivers fault. Realistically I feel that the insurance company should replace the car. Especially since now we are now down to one drivable car AND we should be moving into our new home in about 3 weeks. So our money is tied up into moving expenses, etc. What we get back from the insurance company we will have to use to fix my husbands Jeep (replacing the trans) which I don't want to do because its not worth crap and we wanted to replace it anyway. Needless to say its going to be interesting for the next few weeks.

Good luck. It took 8 weeks before the bi$ch who hit my bikes insurance company to even send out an adjuster. It isn't like I'll be seeing much anyways as she has the pa state minimum which should just barely cover the cost of a 14 year old motorcycle and about 1/2 of my apparrel. Glad hubby wasn't hurt, you need him to move boxes.

Might be worth pushing for them to pay for a rental for a week or two so you can figure out what to do rather than fixing a Heep.;)

Have a 2013 mustang as our rental (we've had it for about a week now) but we only have it for another week. That's the longest they will let us have it. Unless WE pay to have it longer.

Rebecca, hope your husband is ok. You have about the same luck with svx's as I do:(:o Are you keeping the car and parting it out. Thats what I did with the red 96. Good luck with finding another car and with the new home.;)

No. Once I get a check its gone. I can't have another SVX to part out. I still have Killer Tomato sitting in my parents driveway (hopefully not for long). I also don't want to deal with selling parts, shipping parts, etc.

Just posted a thread in cars for sale section. Just found out this car will be up for auction in Baltimore at IAA. Check out the thread if you might be interested. As it sits right now we are getting about $3600 for the car. Originally they only wanted to give us $2700. So it always helps to fight for the value of your car.
