RX7 rims on the WAY!!!

Finally decided to splurge and buy them. I picked up a set in good condition for $240 shipped. I think it is a pretty killer price. Anyway I may have them powdercoated as they do have some scratches on them from just being handled with mallot hands. Anyway I now can add my old probe rims to the list of parts for sale.

Tom,

What are the specs on the RX-7 rims?

SVXRide 07-10-2005 06:58 PM

Tom,
Nice price! I think you'll really like them. Remember, the stock SVX lug nuts won't work with them
-Bill
p.s. 16x8 with 50mm offset. The bore is within a mm or two of the stock SVX rim's

Congrats Tom! I think I paid $250 for mine but I had to drive 4 hours to get them!

How about polish them to a chrome-like finish?

...either that or black to match the engine.

TomsSVX 07-12-2005 05:43 PM

u know what they say,...... Once you go black, you never go back. :D

My vote is for Gunmetal or Smoke. Nice and low key. But that's just me.

Bright Silver does look good. (I've got a Titanium finish on mine) But is difficult to keep clean between brake dust and road grime. And in Jersey driving in the winter, salt will make them look like hell if you're not right on top of it.

Just my two cents.

Those rims look good on Chike's 96.

What is the reason you got these rims? Is it because it's the lightest
wheels that will fit onto SVX? :D Will race faster...

What is the weight per wheel again? :)

Thanks Ken!

The weight per wheel is 16.0lbs. The wheels are 16x8" and have a +50mm offset. I got them for looks (five spoke design just looks more modern than the stock rims), and the ability to easily run 245/45 sized rubber if needed... (based on my skidpad testing, I think I'll be staying with sticky 225/50 sized tires)

Actually, you can run 245/45s on the stock wheels just fine as most of them are good for 7.5-9" rims. The 8 inch will bump you up to 255s and possibly 265s. Bad thing is they take you out of stock classes for autoxing or racing.

TomsSVX 07-13-2005 11:55 AM

I plan on running the 225/50 pirellis I have. The new wheels are and inch wider than the probe rims which will kill the sidewall flex that has been dominating my car. plus it will give the car better handling when I get my koni/gc set up which I will get get in a couple weeks
