I want this car...240Z

I've always wanted to get another 70's 240Z (as I loved driving it in the 70's LOL). And blue is one of my favorite colors.... Mine if I had $12000.
The same owner restored another one, green with tan leather interior. It was going for $20,000.

"She looks like a 240Z but has the strengthened frame of the 280Z (additional frame stiffeners have been welded in). The interior is pristine, she's driven only on sunny summer days, and is always garage stored. She gets plenty of admiring thumbs up wherever she goes.
Highlights: lightweight 240Z bumpers and front air dam, 2" lowering springs, front and rear camber adjusters, triple Mikuni-Solex carb set-up with Canon intakes, 3 into 2 header, elec fuel pump with press reg, custom cold air K&N intake, close ratio 5 spd trans with a 3.9 diff, Porsche 911 mirrors, 5 way Tokico Illumina shocks, strut tower braces, Corbeau racing seats, 5 pt racing harness, 4 point roll cage (behind seats only), proper rear disc brake set-up (unlike most aftermarket rear disc set-ups, the emergency brake works!), brake proportioning valve, braided steel lines, Alpine CD player, 15" American Racing wheels, mounted R compound tires avail, etc. "

The 240Z is one of the best looking cars in my opinion. I always loved the way it looks. It is a "class" car, right in there with the SVX, 300SX and CRX. The power to weight on the 240Z for the money was very good when it was sold. I hear it was really fun to drive and the only problem was the twist of the rear leaf springs under heavy acceleration.

Cynic 02-26-2008 10:06 AM

But there'd be no heavy acceleration with me driving

Seems the green is on the market too.

that is a pretty Z. Seen a couple of them around here is REALLY nice shape. Great cars for some spirited driving and not too shabby on the track...

i remember when they first came out I wanted one BAD but could only afford a new Chevrolet Vega and had to get that instead :( My car payments were $72 a month and they were killing me at the time. One striper in the Air Force, just out of basic training.......reminds me of how i wanted an SVX in 92 but couldn't afford a $30K car no way no how.....

There are no leaf springs on any Z car ever made.
They are super fun to drive and I will never part with mine, a 73. I have a pair of turbos waiting to go in it, well if the svx ever stops needing repaired that is.

A friend has a 77 Z and is the original owner. It is in good shape except the drives side rear bumper where the exhaust hits it. :o It is yellow and has the louvers on the back window. :)

after driving it for a year now, I can confidently say that I don't like it either, mostly because you can feel its weight... I dunno why Nissan fabricated a TANK as a sports car.

This may be old news, but have you seen the videos of the Swedish(?) 240z Racer buildup?

Start by watching the "hugo" 1-20's, it's a work in progress, so bookmark it and keep an eye out for new ones.

I had the opportunity to drive a pretty well-prepped BS 350Z Track about a year ago. I loved it. I instantly 'got' that car and felt at home in it right away. I beat the owner pretty good, too.

I drove an RX-8 less than a year later and did not feel nearly as comfortable with it. I'm sure I'd 'get' it eventually; I just wasn't at home in it. I beat the owner of that car, as well. :p
