Headlight bulb questions
Hey guys,
What lights are available on the market that are the closest to the HID, i remember there being the PIAA ones that were pretty good, but i forget the part number, which ones would you all suggest? Thanks in advance, Chris |
Sylvania makes good bulbs....cool blue or silverstars. Get 9005 bulbs and convert them you won't be sorry. Do a SEARCH. :)

These HIR bulbs are unbelievable.
I had Siverstars, these are brighter. |
That's very interesting. I like the specs on them. Have you bought from that person before?
9011 = 2500 lumens 9012 = 1850 I might try the 9011 and mod them into my 9006's and see how the cutoff is.:) |
Man....30 bucks a bulb....that's a lot of dough for 4 bulbs.
They don't jump out and change your oil every 3k do they?? I will definitely give these a try, got to get the funds put aside. **I have to trust my fellow Army soldier Hooah!! |
That is the guy I bought them from. For Ebay- he is one of the better sellers I have delt with. Mind you, I bought both my SVX'x off ebay- no, I don't know him or get a cut
And yes, they are a bit expensive. So- I also have a digital light meter on the way, I intend to test my stock, silver star, and these bulbs. I will post the results. That way, you don't have to take my word for it either- after all, after jumping out of pretty much anything that can leave the ground for a few years leaves a lot of dents in ones head :) The "looks brighter to me" thing or a photo with no exposure data to show if a bulb is brighter on not is all I can usualy find for info. |

HIR bulbs
I bought two for my high beams(didn't want to offend THE MAN), 4-5 months ago.
They are spectacular! They are NOT a "white" light like silverstars, etc, but SO bright you will love them. Actually took some getting used to. Maybe they "burned-in". Not sure. They are deceivingly bright. I didn't realize this 'til I got the chance to hit the WIDE open road. Roadside signs lit-up like never before. And driving home in windy mtn roads w/snow on the trees, is amazing. WELL worth the $30 IMHO. Life expectancy will be interesting to see... Try it - you'll like it! :) mile-hi-bri - Brian |

HIR bulbs
9011 = 9005
9012 = 9006 If you order from the guy on ebay, just tell him you want low or high beams. He'll make sure you get it right. And, he'll send you an email to confirm. Pretty much a no-brainer! :) Good luck!mile-hi-bri - Brian |

For those that have bought these hir bulbs, how long have you been using them? Any heat problems on the wiring or anything? Using them in both the high and low beam housing??? Would you/will you order them again??
Snowplow, the lumens shouldn't make a big difference to on-comming traffic as long as the headlights are aimed correctly (can't say anything about cars in front of you but even there I wouldn't think it would be a problem) |
wouldn't we have almost HID power in lumens by modding his 9011 bulbs (9005) into our 9006 sockets?
this sounds pretty good do silverstars produce actual white light? a friend of mine said he put them in and they still showed up yellow what color do coolblues produce, its slightly offwhite right? |
Have silverstars in my wifes 97 OB and the visual light they produce is very white, tell your buddy to clean his headlights. :D
