Hello,

I bought my first SVX a few weeks ago, and I wanted to post some pictures and give a brief introduction. I am from Buffalo, NY, currently going to school in Flint Mi, at Kettering University (General Motors Institute) for Mechanical engineering w/minor in Auto Body and Chassis design. I have a 1992 SVX with 120,000 miles. This car had been sitting for 3 years, and needed a Differential when I bought it. I had wanted an SVX since I drove one 2 years ago, however that car needed alot of work, so I bought an Outback instead. Upon seeing this one, I bought it ($1200) and sold my outback the next day...

I have done the following repairs:
  • Replaced front Differential
  • Both front half shafts
  • new engine mounts
  • changed All fluids
  • trans filter
  • replaced the radio cage/head unit
  • fixed the backward wheels
  • cleaned throttle body and replaced air filter w/K&N
  • Porsche Oil filter
  • Repaired sun visor
  • Fixed frozen lock tumblers

I plan on eventually repainting the entire car, as it looks better than it is in the photos, however it is not terrible. There are 2 very small rust spots behind the rear wheels on the quarters, however it is not noticeable unless you are right there. I would like to get the ECU tune upgrade, do both the 15/20 min mod, and do a 5mt swap, however that is quite a ways off. The trans is perfect right now, so I am going to wait. I also may buy a green SVX which I found at my local junkyard which has a bad trans, but the body is actually in slightly better shape than mine, and do the swap on that first.

I also have a 1972 Olds Cutlass, Which I have had since I was 12, and did a frame off restoration. The car is a numbers matching olds 350 4bbl, with approx 325 hp/400+ torque. Engine was rebuilt with 9.25:1 CR, ported/polished heads, al. Intake, custom rebuilt carb (by myself), upgraded cam/valves/springs/roller rockers/HEI distributor. The only thing left to do it to change the open rear end to a posi. Prolly going with 3.23 gears (next summers project)

If anyone has frozen locks, and needs them fixed, I would be glad to do it. I have done this a few times now, and twice for Subaru locks, as my outback needed this done as well. I also have lots of experience with quadra-jet carbs, and would be glad to help anyone in this area as well. (just a side note, i understand this is highly unlikely)

If anyone is in Michigan and would like to meet up I would be interested. I am here until October, and then I will be back in Buffalo for work.

Joe
