Need both headlights, center grille, and hood for a 94'

Well the insurance company of the guy that ran into me finally came through but they said that I have to use used parts it they are available which they said are, so I need both headlights the center grille and a hood. They said they don't buy new parts and if I want them then I have to pay the difference,so I'm looking for used.

Total crap. If someone hit you and the value of the parts does not exceed 80% of the cars Blue Book value, then you are entitled to new parts. Remember the insurance company is only concerned with one thing... saving themselves money.

I'd tell them to put their used parts up their A$$!

I agree!!!! You can tell them that they will buy new parts to fix your car. They may have been used when they were on your car, but they will be used as soon as the new parts are put on it. :)

That's how I felt but the rep from AIG stated that if I wanted new parts then I would have to pay the difference because they weren't going to put 06' parts on a 94' car. I called my insurance(State Farm) and they said that Wyoming is one of the states that allow the insurance companies to use used parts if they are available. It took AIG 3 months to even agree to send me a check for what their adjuster came up with for an estimate for repairs($1700 vs $3000 for the estimates I received). I'll have to wait and see what their estimate looks like when it shows up.

When my wife's van was 'totaled' after she was rear ended, the insurance company told me it was because they had to price the repairs based on new parts. They said if they were allowed to use used parts they would be able to keep a lot more cars from being totaled. This is in Oregon, I know laws vary by state.

We 'bought' the van back from them, pocketed the $1100 (13 year old vehicle at the time) and my wife continued to drive it. We just can't open the rear door.

Don't you just love this government supported scam we call insurance?

Good Luck,
Dan
