Where to get new Poly Swaybar bushings ?
 

Hi folks,
I did a search and found a lot of chat about them, but no real information about where to buy ? Or what size I require ?
Are there 'end links' I need ? I'm sure mine are done...

Also, anyone know if our Struts have 'strut mounts' in the rear ? My rear creaks pretty good over bumps and know they can wear out. Usually that sound is the mount. Not really wanting to change them out, since the Koni install seems like a lot of modifications and not really want to get into all that.
Maybe there's a brand thats a little more user friendly ?
Personally, I've never seen struts in the Rear... Even my M3 has shocks back there... its weird to me.

For the rear sway bar, Energy Suspension has a set of bushings that fit directly in place of the stock bushings. You'll need to pick up a few metric nuts at the local hardware store though because the OEM nuts are welded onto the OEM strap. The part number for the Energy suspension bushing for the rear is:

9.5121G

For the front sway bar, there is no direct fit universal sway bar bushing. For a clean installation, you can start with a universal bushing, and use it in conjunction with a spacer plate and the OEM bushing strap. The Energy Suspension bushing you would use is:

9.5122G

Summitracing.com sells these bushings dirt cheap (and they are the best quality universal bushings).

Pictures 1-4 describe the rear bushing installation. Pictures 5-9 describe the front bushing installation. If you need the plate, I can have those made up for you.

You shouldn't need sway bar endlinks. The OEM ones are excellent quality.

Yes, the rear struts have an upper strut mount. Noise from the rear suspension can be caused by a variety of things. The rear upper strut mounts on the SVX will rust very badly if the car is driven in wintery areas where the roads are salted. The strut mount can actually collapse and the strut spring will ride against the top of the strut tunnel. That's rare though. More likely is that either the struts are shot, or the upper or lower spring seats are shot. The rear sway bar bushing might just need some lube too.

Not sure what you mean by Konis and strut mounts. The strut mounts are a separate item from the Koni strut inserts. If the strut mounts are shot, you can buy new ones from Subaru. Its the only place that has them. (1stsubaruparts.com has the best prices.) If the struts are shot, you can either go with OEM struts (which are actually pretty decent when new) or Koni strut inserts. The Koni inserts require some fab work to adapt them into the OEM strut body.

Could you notice the improvment in handling?

I felt an impromevent then I installed them on my car.

I use Energy Suspension 9.5121R for the rear and 9.5105R for the front.

The 9.5105R are the same hight as the OE ones but there wider.

I cut them down and drilled them out. no spaceres needed.

With my springs, I noticed a nice (but not huge) improvement in turn-in responsiveness. Bill (SVXRide) said the bushings on his car also with a set of my springs improved his favorite on-ramp speed by a few miles an hour.

Guys excuse my ignorance concerning this issue, but what does this thing in the car have as effect on suspension, and what the modified kit shown in the pic really differ from stock.

Even though I modified my whole suspension (became similar to WRC feeling) i still find it not stable enough on quick curves as I do on my other Mercedes E320. My SVX is very very stable on highways, but I feel the stock SVX suspension effect on the curves, is this what causes this fact? or is it the springs? (i do not mean by springs, that they are old and used up, but rather the benz has more rings in its springs than the SVX).

Suspension is a black art and I doubt you could match a BMW spring to an SVX spring and get the same handeling car. I figure if it ride like a go-cart then it handles good.:D

Got the bushings Dayle and they look great! I'll install the rear ones and work up some spacers for the fronts...

I found an old post, 5-15-03,
bushings
ok, its 5-15, and i installed the bushings. the 9.5105G kit, the bushing can be ground or drilled out to 18mm, i ground out the right side to 18 by wearing out the grinding stone from 3/4" with a piece of metal. (i could not find a 18mm drill) i olso had to saw off 1/2 "of the outside end of the bushing so it would clear the bend in the sway bar. did the drivers side first, without grinding or trimming it, so ill have to go back and hone it out, but the thickness is fine. nothing squeeks or bangs. the car seems more responsive.when im awake friday morning, it will get a better test flying the kids to school on winding bumpy roads.

Yup, those front bushings would be much better to use on the SVX than the front ones Dayle sells. Tom and I installed Dayle's rear bushings on my car this weekend and the fit was like they came from the factory (took maybe 25 minutes).

However, we spent the next 1.5 hours trying to figure out a good way to install the front bushings. Using metal spacers felt iffy, and we didn't like the idea of relocating the sway bar as it might bang against the frame in hard cornering.

I put my stock front bushings back on and I'll install better ones within the next 1-2 weeks...

A couple years ago I CNC Milled a set of Delrin busings for the rear sway bars.

Why?

They're stronger, lasts longer and most importantly don't make noise nor require routine greasing besides the initial install with Redline Bearing Grease.

There is a guy on the RX7forum that fabricated Nylon replacement bushings for the RX7's suspension and differential.

The difference in handling and response is like night and day.

However, simple nylon was used and it does require re-greasing.

Do the summit racing bushings fit better than dayles for the front? Would the subie dealer have them? anyone know prices for summit or subie dealer?

Summit has them for $13.99 plus shipping,I paid $18.89 to CarQuest for Chi ke's front bushings, he's coming up next Saturday if it's not snowing.
I am much more comfortable installing these,9.5105G, than the ones Dayle sent.
These will fit the stock bracket shape, and only need drilled out slightly to 18mm from 11/16ths".
Its not much at all. I've had these on my car since 5-15-03 and they haven't squeeked or deteriorated.
