Auto window
My driver side window doesn't automatically go down. I remember reading something about how to fix it if the auto function didn't work but I can't find it anymore, anyone know what to do?

Hi there neighbor.:)
I cut the wire on mine so that it doesn't work;) I have a legacy where the auto down got stuck in the auto down. That caused the switch to burn-up and the window stayed down. It was $350 for a new switch. The SVX switch is simlar design. I don't want to burn up the SVX switch.:) so I cut it. |
If your auto up or down function is not working, most likely, the housing for that switch (inside the switch assembly) is cracked. Take the switchbank out, take it apart (watch out that all the little bits don't fall out -- especially the little thing that looks like a staple that operates the lock switch), epoxy the parts (pronto!) before they actually break, then, reassemble it. If the housing breaks into pieces, there's no way that I can think of (and I tried) to glue them back together. Catching them at the stage of "cracked" will give you a chance to avert having to buy a whole new switchbank at a cost of around a hundred bucks.

Can the auto up/down switchbank still be purchaced from the dealer?

I just bought a switch assembly from 1stSubaruParts for about $85. Well worth the mony for me; I needed it because of the 4 windows only the right read worked. Now they all do. And the driver's window auto's both up and down on my '92.
